I want to share with you today a review, this time of a series that I started to watch on a whim of mine. I had never heard of it, it was recommended to my girlfriend and I started watching it without knowing anything, without having the slightest idea of what it was about, but with the first two chapters I was totally shocked and trapped... I did not think that things would develop as they did, and the way in which this regime is presented in such a crude way...

This series is easily capable of making you feel strange, it presents us with a horrifying future... but what is most shocking, and scary, is that it could actually end up happening in real life. And I think this is why it has made such an impact, as some points could easily be fulfilled and surpass fiction. This series is packed with drama, suspense and darkness. Excellent in so many ways, cast, script, soundtrack.... I am so thankful I found it almost by accident haha.

Hola! Espero estén teniendo un buen día, y que estén bien, querida comunidad de Movies and TV Shows. Les quiero compartir hoy una reseña, esta vez de una serie que empecé a ver por puro capricho mío.. Nunca había oído de ella, se la recomendaron a mi novia y pues empecé a verla sin saber nada, sin tener la menor idea de que trataba, pero con los dos primeros capítulos quede totalmente impactado y atrapado.. no pensé que las cosas se desarrollarían como lo hicieron, y la manera en que la se presenta este régimen de forma tan cruda..

Esta serie fácilmente es capaz de revolverte por dentro, nos presenta un futuro horrendo.. pero lo que más impacta, y asusta, es que realmente podría acabar sucediendo en la vida real. Y creo que por esto ha causado tanto impacto, ya que algunos puntos podrían fácilmente cumplirse y superar la ficción. Esta serie está repleta de drama, suspenso y oscuridad. Excelente en tantos aspectos, reparto, guion, banda sonora.. Agradezco mucho haberla encontrado casi por accidente jaja.

This series has become one of the most shocking I have seen in recent years, this unreal dystopia that was based on the novel of the same name, written by Margaret Atwood, shows us a future, which is not far from the present, where human fertility is in serious danger ... women no longer get pregnant, for a mysterious reason that is still unknown, the population has declined considerably, because many women are becoming infertile. Faced with this grave crisis, a totalitarian and ultra-conservative regime called Gilead rises and takes power over a large part of the United States. Implanting an unjust, male-dominated, extremely religious and oppressive society.

It is terrible how this new order is gaining power, and how it is taking away many lives, taking away all the rights of women in such a cruel way, and turning them into mere objects, into "wombs with legs". This is done with the few women who are still fertile... Then they are forced to become "Maids", this is how we meet June, our protagonist. She is part of this group of women who unfortunately have had everything taken away from them... these women must undergo a monthly "ceremony" where their masters (mostly high-ranking generals) abuse them, without them being able to resist, or anything. This in order to try to conceive a baby, which is simply outlandish.

Esta serie se ha convertido en una de las más impactantes que he visto en los últimos años, esta distopía irreal que se basó en la novela del mismo nombre, escrita por Margaret Atwood, nos muestra un loco futuro, que no se aleja mucho del actual, donde la fertilidad está en grave peligro... las mujeres ya no se quedan embarazadas, por una misteriosa razón que aún se desconoce, la población ha disminuido considerablemente, debido a que muchas mujeres se están volviendo muy infértiles. Ante esta grave crisis, un régimen totalitario y ultraconservador llamado Gilead se alza y toma el poder sobre una gran parte de los Estados Unidos. Implantando una sociedad injusta, dominada por los hombres, extremadamente religiosa y opresiva.

Es terrible como este nuevo orden va ganando poder, y como va arrebatando muchas vidas, quitando todos los derechos a las mujeres de una forma tan cruel, y convirtiéndolas en simples objetos, en "úteros con piernas". Esto se hace con las pocas mujeres que aún son fértiles.... Entonces se las obliga a convertirse en "Criadas", es así como conocemos a June, nuestra protagonista. Ella forma parte de este grupo de mujeres a las que desgraciadamente les han quitado todo... estas mujeres deben someterse mensualmente a una "ceremonia" donde sus amos (en su mayoría generales de alto rango) abusan de ellas, sin que puedan resistirse, ni nada.... Esto para poder intentar concebir un bebe, algo simplemente loquísimo.

It is quite normal to feel strange, or uncomfortable, with this premise... This series depicts all these horrible acts in a very raw way, the whole series itself shows you these injustices in a very realistic way. The performances are outstanding, especially that of the main character, June. Elizabeth Moss was amazing playing her! She conveys to us in a shocking way all the pain...the rage, and the helplessness of her painful and unpleasant situation. We can see how her anguish is growing and growing.... We see her past and how it contrasts so strongly with the ordeal she is currently in.... We see how she was caught, how she was brutally separated from her family, and how she fought with all her might to survive.

It is necessary to highlight the incredible work behind this production, the photography is excellent.. the musicalization works perfectly reinforcing these two worlds, the duality that exists between the oppression of Gilead, and the miserable lives of the maids.. and how from time to time there is a little hope for them. This series completely traps you in this resistance that the maids plan to do, it feels great everything they try to achieve to get out of that horrible life, the series traps you in a very good way, in each season the drama increases, and the rebellion is also increasing, managing to carry out plans to annoy their oppressors. We see the growth and evolution of June, as she transforms... From being a simple victim, and becoming a fighter willing to fight, and risk her life to try to overthrow Gilead, no doubt her greatest goal is to make them suffer as much as she has suffered.

The series also introduces us to more interesting and very well-built characters, such as the sinister Aunt Lydia, who is in charge of indoctrinating and punishing the maids... you easily end up hating her haha. There is also Serena, one of the "wives" of this regime, who little by little ends up becoming a victim of the monsters she helped to create.

Es bastante normal sentirse extraño, o incómodo, con esta premisa.. Esta serie representa todos estos actos horribles de una manera muy cruda, toda la serie en sí te muestra estas injusticias de una manera muy realista. Las actuaciones son sobresalientes, especialmente la de la protagonista, June. Elizabeth Moss fue increíble interpretándola! Nos transmite de forma estremecedora todo el dolor.. la rabia, y la impotencia de su situación tan dolorosa y desagradable. Podemos ver cómo va creciendo y creciendo su angustia.. Vemos su pasado y como contrasta tan fuertemente con el calvario en el que está en la actualidad.. Vemos como la atraparon, como la separaron brutalmente de su familia, y como lucho con todas sus fuerzas para sobrevivir.

Es necesario resaltar el increíble trabajo que hay detrás de esta producción, la fotografía es excelente.. la musicalización funciona perfectamente reforzando estos dos mundos, la dualidad que existe entre la opresión de Gilead, y las miserables vidas de las criadas.. y como de vez en cuando hay un poco de esperanza para estas. Esta serie te atrapa completamente en esta resistencia que planean hacer las criadas, se siente genial todo lo que intentan lograr hacer para salirse de esa vida tan horrible, la serie te atrapa de una muy buena manera, en cada temporada el drama aumenta, y la rebelión también va en aumento, logrando llevar a cabo planes para fastidiar a sus opresores. Vemos el crecimiento y evolución de June, como se transforma.. Dejando de ser una simple víctima, y volviéndose una luchadora dispuesta a luchar, y jugarse la vida por intentar derribar a Gilead, sin duda su mayor objetivo es hacerlos sufrir tanto como ha sufrido ella.

La serie también nos presenta más personajes interesantes y muy bien construidos, como la siniestra Tia Lydia, que es la encargada de adoctrinar y castigar a las criadas.. fácilmente terminas odiándola jaja. También está Serena, una de las “esposas” de este régimen, que poco a poco termina convirtiéndose en víctima de los monstruos que ayudo a crear.

It's amazing how this series can show us that there are no absolute blacks and whites. Gilead is full of characters who do evil believing it is for the greater good... That it is the right thing to do, and that it is the right thing to do. This is easily compared to reality, and it is normal to see how people commit injustice or abuse, because they believe they are doing the right thing, likewise these oppressors punish and humiliate women, because they think it is what "the holy scriptures" tell them to do, completely ignoring the feelings and lives of others. Even in this story, those who fight against this terrible dictatorship are not angels, June herself is far from perfect... She also makes mistakes, and it is seen how her situation led her to slowly lose her humanity...

The Handmaid's Tale is a roller coaster of emotions, it grabs you from the first episode and doesn't let go, it is a raw reflection on machismo and oppression taken to the extreme, this impacts you directly as a viewer, and makes you think, or should make you think! I give this series a well deserved 9/10. I look forward to finding out what is going to happen and how the story will continue in season 5... They still have time to catch up with it and be able to enjoy this season when it premieres, hehe. I consider this production amazing, it has a lot of narrative strength, the technical and acting elements are top notch... It is not an easy series to digest, but it is completely worth it. Highly recommended for lovers of drama, suspense and dystopian futures. I know many of you will love it... I share with you the trailer so you can take a look, take care!

Es asombroso como esta serie puede mostrarnos que no hay blancos y negros absolutos. Gilead está lleno de personajes que hacen el mal creyendo que es por un bien mayor.. Que es lo correcto, y que es lo que debe hacerse. Esto se compara fácilmente con la realidad, y es normal ver como personas cometen injusticias o abusos, porque ellos creen que están haciendo lo correcto, de igual manera estos opresores castigan y humillan a las mujeres, porque piensan que es lo que “las santas escrituras” le dicen que hagan, ignorando por completo los sentimientos y vidas de los demás. Incluso en esta historia, quienes luchan contra esta terrible dictadura no son ángeles, la propia June está lejos de ser perfecta.. También comete errores, y se ve como su situación la llevo a poco a poco perder su humanidad..

The Handmaid's Tale es una montaña rusa de emociones, te agarra desde el primer episodio y no te suelta, es una cruda reflexión sobre el machismo y la opresión llevado al extremo, esto te impacta directamente como espectador, y te hace pensar, o debería hacerte pensar! Le doy a esta serie un merecido 9/10. Espero con ansias saber que va a pasar y como seguirá la historia en la 5ta temporada.. Tienen aún tiempo para ponerse al día con ella y poder disfrutar de esta temporada cuando se estrene jeje. Considero a esta producción asombrosa, tiene mucha fuerza narrativa, los elementos técnicos y actorales son de primera.. No es una serie fácil de ver, pero vale completamente la pena. Recomendada enormemente para los amantes del drama, suspenso y los futuros distópicos. Sé que a muchos de ustedes les encantara.. les comparto el tráiler para que le den un vistazo, cuídense mucho!
