When Public Transport Played Tricks on Me
Using transportation has a knack for etching memories into our minds and we all have that one journey that remains vividly alive in our memories. It could be a meeting, a heartwarming gesture or a funny turn of events. These experiences turn into stories we share with a blend of laughter and nostalgic reminiscence. Personally my memorable trip wasn't really a pleasant one.
The only time I would say that my experience with public transport was great would probably be when a stranger paid for my transportation. However, it has been a long while since I received such a gesture, as it is, the economy is biting hard. People are struggling to make ends meet, and it's hard to find someone who is willing to go the extra mile to help others. It's sad, but it's the reality we live in.
During one weekend, my sister and I were on our way to school when we suddenly encountered a problem with public transportation. The driver had to signal to the passengers to assist him in pushing the vehicle.
As a result of the vehicle's condition, my sister and I complained bitterly that we would arrive late to school that day. As if that was not enough torture, it got to a point where other passengers got to their destination and the only people who were left on the bus were my sister, the driver, and I.
Our excitement over the bus finally moving steadily was short-lived when it suddenly stopped abruptly again, and the driver asked my sister and me in a rude tone if we wanted to sit there or help him push it.
My sister and I quickly got out of the bus, embarrassed and angry. I reluctantly joined my sister in pushing the vehicle because I had to other option and I needed to get to school. We were both relieved when we managed to get the bus to move.
In the process, I felt sorry for the man who had to push his vehicle early in the morning, already, I felt like my wrist had dislocated due to the strain I put on it from pushing the vehicle. I was exhausted and frustrated. I wished I had chosen a different vehicle.
Another bus helped push the bus I was in into a petrol station that morning. It seemed dangerous because the vehicle being pushed by the other bus behind had no control over its own motion. I was relieved when the bus driver managed to take control of the bus, and we were able to get to the petrol station safely. It was a terrifying experience, and one that I'll never forget.
At first, I had thought that the driver wanted to park his vehicle somewhere in the petrol station to see what was wrong with his vehicle, but he went directly to the attendant and bought some fuel. I looked at my sister in awe and wondered if purchasing fuel would make the bus work, instead of calling a mechanic.
The next part made me cuss the driver in my head.
He turned on his car's engine right after he bought fuel, and it immediately came to life, and he drove us to our destination. Before he went to get fuel, he made us push his bus, made my wrist hurt, and made us think that his bus was faulty. I even pitied him, not knowing that it was his empty fuel tank that caused the problem.
He knew but didn't say anything, making us think he was helpless. We were fooled into thinking that his bus was broken, when in fact it was his empty tank that was the problem.
It was good that I managed to get to class before the lecturer that morning.
Damn, but this driver was very rude to you, making you push a bus that seemed to have some serious problem, but it was a lack of gasoline. Unfortunately, there are people like this, who are unaware of their responsibilities and do this kind of thing.
I hope you never meet someone like that on a bus again.
Yeah, I hope so too. That's why whenever I get to the bus stop I am always very cautious about which bus to enter.
You really have to keep an eye on it, I was thinking while I was going to sleep that night, what he did is worthy of reporting by you, if he works for a company, you can get the bus license plate and the timetable and make a report because What he did puts you in real danger of something bad happening.
Oh, how terrible to have to push the bus. And not having the option to get on another one. It's so helpless.
Yes...good things I managed to get to school on time.
That was a terrible experienced, sorry that you and your sister had to push the car. What I don't understand is that, how can a driver be driving his car with an empty tank? That driver needs to receive some strokes of canes earnestly.
That was what surprised me too. He made us think that the vehicle broke down, unknowing to us that it was his fuel that ran out. Just imagine!
How on earth did he expect a vehicle with no fuel to work? That driver ehn
I have experienced it too , a situation where some one pays my transport fare in the bus .to me it us normal because I also do it to people to .nice post sis
It is good that you help pay people's transportation fare. That's nice. Thanks for stopping by.
Anyone that pays for your transport fare is someone worthy of grabbing his heels in gratitude.😅
Times are now, and I think everyone should understand. I remember when I was a fresher, everyone pays for each other. But now, it is well!
Some public transport drivers/owners just use their vehicles anyhow without taking care of it. They only turn to it when it develops a fault after series of warnings! If the fault affects only the driver, maybe they deserved it but it turns on the passengers too who are going to their respective destinations.
Some drivers are in the habit of doing this. They make you feel they are helpless so you don't get angry with them when such incident happens.

whaaaaaaaaaaaaat!!!!
oh my gosh - LOL i just finished another story about someone being taken advantage of - and now yours too!
these men!!! i tell you!!!!
He had not even a bit of shame to make two young women get out and PUSH A BUS?!?!?!
craziness!!!!!!!!!!
Exactly my point.
The most annoying part was that he didn't even apologize.
He just zoomed off after we alighted.
learn and grow for next time - right??? lol
the next time anything like this happens.... and someone dares to try to humiliate you into doing their job???
WALK OFF the bus and say "Do your own dirty work. I paid you for transportation. Not for doing your grunt work."
It's worth being LATE for your appointment, rather than be hassled into their lazy, ill-equipped life! ugh... terrible people!
Right....I considered doing that.
But seeing that we were on a highway and would not easily find another bus, we decided to stay put.
I pray I don't enter that kind of bus next time.
yes - safety first!!!! you made the right choice!!!
and i pray that you don't ever get on a bus like that again either!! (but how could you know that he would run out of gas??)
lets just pray it doesn't happen again!!!
Some drivers are devious in nature, while reading the post the thought crossed my mind that it might be lack of fuel that caused the car to break down. The driver knew that if he informed the passengers the reason behind the breakdown, they will rain insult on him because he is to blame for not buying enough fuel in his vehicle.
It must have been a every stressful event.

Just imagine the nonsense!
Imagine the stress he put you guys through just because of his pity panky face.
This is so outrageous and so incompetent of him but the deed has been done.
