Hive Open Mic #186 || My Heart Will Go On - Celidion (cover) by @jessicaossom
When I saw the week's theme, I thought I would participate no matter how busy I might be even though it has felt like a long time since I participated in the open mic community. I'm so glad I took the time to participate.
It was hard for me to come up with a song to sing at first, but then I remembered Flashlight from the movie Pitch Perfect and a few others, like Never Enough from the Greatest Showman.
However, as you can see from my video, I finally ended up choosing My Heart Will Go On, the love theme from Titanic. I chose this song because I think it's a powerful ballad that expresses a lot of emotion. Plus, it has a beautiful melody that makes it easy to sing along.
Getting the lyrics right and stopping my son and his cousins from making noise were the challenges I faced while recording this video. In the end, it was worth the effort and I'm very pleased with the outcome.
Also, I tried to sing the acapella by choosing a key I felt was comfortable for me at first but I wasn't satisfied with the result. When singing without an instrumental, I tend to change the key. I hear it, so I know it, and I should work on that. Usually, I can sing the first verse on one key up to the end, but when I begin the second verse, it comes on on another key.
So I connected my earbuds to my computer and listened to the instrumental while singing, and I was able to sing without switching keys. I also used the KineMaster video editor to add effects to my video. Let me know what you think.

Now that you mentioned it I remember I know a lot of songs from movies but then I already did a cover of one though.
This was a beautiful presentation as always, I love the expression,the voice control and everything you tried doing professionally.
Your song choice as obviously not an easy one but I'm happy you still pulled it, having a key change is something that takes time for most people to get once they make that mistake and I must say you've mastered music really well.
I appreciate that you have found a way to succeed with this cover, and also, you have chosen one of the perfect movie songs, just like I did yesterday. In fact I feel very identified with you because our participations without instrumentation were made with effort and love. Thanks for bringing this classic, it is impossible to choose another song before My Heart Will Go On 😉

Titanic is a movie we can't forget, even me that did not use to watch movie, I watched this one and it's indeed a very good movie.
