Personality Isn't Permanent - My 5 minutes a day #60
If you want to change, you can change

Until recently, I had always thought that a person's personality (excuse the redundancy) was something fixed, that it could not be changed and that it could only be discovered.
However, after reading an excellent book by Benjamin Hardy, which is called Personality Isn't Permanent, I have realized that someone's personality can change to the point of being a different person if you see them 5 years later. .
You see, if I ask you who you were about 10 years ago, you will surely answer very different things: If today you are someone who likes the company of others, you could say that a decade ago you were afraid of social interactions, if 10 years ago you were a nihilist , now you would have a positive view of the world and so on...
But if I ask you, will you change in the next 10 years?
Many will answer no, this is due to the finished product illusion, which makes people think that whatever personality trait they currently have is fixed and will not change. However, this hurts us more than we think.
You see, our goals are made based on our future self, not what the current self wants. If you want to be an entrepreneur, you won't have 6 hour blocks each day dedicated to watching movies, that would be something your current self might like, but surely your future self would hate you for this.
What do I want to get with this?
What I want to tell you with this is that any limitation that you may think you have that you cannot change, can be done. Whether it is trauma, a limiting mindset or even hate, with:
- Therapy sessions that can take out the demons and refocus them on something positive.
- A shift from a fixed mindset to a mindset that changes and is willing to learn.
- Expose ourselves to experiences that challenge our view of the world.
All of these will allow us to change our personality for the better and become the best version of ourselves. So, the next time you think you can't change, think twice. Thus:
