What happens is for you, not to you

Many of us have passed through traumatic experiences, negative events and bad days. These experiences shape our beliefs about ourselves and the world, defining our concept of reality. The main consequences that these three cause are:

  • Limiting Self Beliefs
  • Nihilism
  • Inaction.

All of which can be lethal for our development. However, there's a way in which you can change all this and that's by changing your perception of the past and the present.

When we decide the meaning an event has for us, we go through this process:

  • Analyze the cause of the event (This happened because I fell from the bike)
  • Assigning Value to the event in relationship to us (I fell from the bike because I don't know how to ride bike)
  • We assign an overall idea of the world from this (Bikes are dangerous and you shouldn't drive them)

A process that is highly subjective. Falling from a bike happens even to the most experienced people, yet our brain likes to put a label to everything, including ourselves and prevent future risks, thing which cripples us at the end of the day.

But, what If you could see everything as an opportunity?

For example, when you fall from the bike you can say to yourself that this is an opportunity to correct what you did wrong and become a better biker because of It. The same applies to anything that happens to us. You can see opportunity in a divorce, in being fired from a job and in a thousand more things.

The key is remembering that even the worst that can happen to us is an opportunity to grow. It's not seeing the good in everything, but in seeing the best you can do with things as they happen to you.

So, next time you find yourself complaining about something, why don't give a turn to It?

Why not see It as a great opportunity?

In this way, you'll change to become a better person who is constantly trying to improve, and who knows, you might even get rewarded for It ;).

That being said,

Thank you for your support and good luck!
