Hello, everyone. In the previous post I talked about the problems I had with a spray paint gun. When I tried to connect the motor, one of the breakers in my house tripped.

However, after a careful analysis of the only two components: The DC motor and a rocker switch, I was able to perform tests and verified that:

*The engine was not damaged.

  • The switch was not damaged.

If neither of them were the cause, then what was?

Well, as much as it embarrassed me, the truth was this:

I had connected the switch terminals incorrectly, which caused it to immediately short out.

Luckily, the breaker saved me from a mistake that could have cost me my engine and even a fire. This is why I am thankful for the existence of breakers.

You see, the connection diagram of a 4-pole rocker switch, as in my case, is as follows:

While the connection I made was:

  • Loading to the two left pins.
  • Power to the two right pins.

This was destined to fail with a short. However, I'm happy that it didn't become a major problem and that the gun's compressor now works perfectly.

This is a lesson reminding me to be more careful, which I will be in the future. That and to not give up.

Thank you for your support and good luck!
