A triple birthday celebration

In the month of August, three of us (me, my sister and my brother) are celebrating our birthday. Mine is last August 14, my brother's birthday is last August 16 and my sister's birthday is August 20 which falls on Sunday.

In our family, we used to celebrate our birthdays in just one day so we could have time for each other, we could have time to bond as a family and we could have time to go home and have fun.

Yesterday, Sunday, August 20, we decided to go home to celebrate our birthdays.

My younger sister whose birthday falls that day said that they have two native chickens being prepared for this occasion. I also told them that I will bring and cook spaghetti. My brother told us that he will bring ingredients for bihon and will be the one to cook it. My sister in law brought cake and pizza.

We went home in the morning and we helped each other to cook the food. Each of us has an assignment so the task will be done easier.

While we are cooking, we thought of our father. He is our chief cook and he is the one who is cooking for us. We talked about him and we wished he was here.

We all have our lunch together. Here are the foods we enjoy. We have rice, chicken tinola, bihon, spaghetti, cake, pizza and watermelon. We are so grateful to God for all these blessings.

My sister felt emotional celebrating her birthday with us. She is also happy to have a lot of food because we grow up that our birthday is like a usual day, no food or just having a bihon with sardines.

Celebrating birthdays like this, having some food and having the presence of our family is really special for us and we really cherish the moment together.

We also had our family pictures. We are 8 in the family but sadly we will no longer be complete because our father died more than a year ago. This time my two brothers are not around because the other one is working in another city and the other one joins as a missionary.

A triple birthday celebration is just simple as others may think about it but it is so special for us. Having a cake during birthday? Oh! we are so grateful for it because when we were still a child, we don't have any cake even pan cake.

It became more special because we celebrated it with our family and extended family. Our family is going bigger and bigger now.

Birthday is a day to be grateful for the another year we have in our life. It is a day where we are given another chance to live, to correct our mistakes and to change for the better. It is also a day where we could reconnect, and reunite with our family and/or friends.

Cherish every moment you have with your family because we can never rewind the time that has passed.
