if I could I would save the two.......pero........ (WE89)

Hello creatives of the weekend

Today I am surprised by these questions from our friend @galenkp, this weekend, when I read them I was a little thoughtful, thinking about each one of them, and the possible answers I could give, however, I got hooked on one in particular and I will tell you about it.

Option Two ..... If you could save

#### If you could save just one child from a burning house, who would you choose to save and why? They are six year old twins, a boy and a girl and the one you don't save will die. What is the logic behind your choice and the possible implications in the future?

On many occasions this question has touched me, as a teacher many accidents can happen where I have to make decisions quickly, without being able to consider the options just act. Then the consequences will tell whether or not the decision was right or wrong.

A fatal accident is happening right now, the burning building is about to collapse, many people are going through the building, looking for the exit, the smoke prevents the vision and penetrates all the pores of the body leaving us unable to breathe.

Passing through a corridor, one of the doors is open and the crying of children, who in desperation are trying to escape the flames, desperately shouting, Help, we are here!

As I enter, I look for the voices and find the two little ones, a girl and a boy, they look like twins, they are crying, one of them lies on the floor, choking in tears and smoke, the other runs from one side to the other looking for help, to save himself, waving his arms wanting to help his brother to breathe.

When I enter the room many things go through my mind. The most important thing is to preserve life, if I stay there too long, I will not be able to get out in time, my option is not to die.

My heart does not stop beating, fast and strong, I can only get out of there a child who can survive, I can not take both, although it would be the first option, my condition does not allow me, if we do not leave soon we could die all three.

My options

image.png

1.- Take the child who is on the ground, since he is weaker and open the way for the other one to follow me and we can get out the three of us. However, the other child might not follow me, out of fear, and only one of us would be saved.

2.-I take only the child who is more active, so that we can run to the exit and save ourselves. The other child must wait for a specialist to rescue him.

These options come to my mind at this moment. In both cases, one child is saved and the other dies.

What to do, preserve and prolong life is the option, hard to take, I want to save both of them, I am in pain with that situation, I hope it will never be my reality.

But I choose option 2. My feeling is to preserve and prolong life,

In this case. The child who is more active still has a chance to live and recover quickly. On the other hand, he can walk or run if I can't carry him all the way to the exit. We would leave soon, unless some circumstance occurs that delays us. The other child will be waiting for a specialist to come and meet him, hoping that he can be saved and live.

I hope that the option I take will give life to the child I save and that the other child will be able to forgive me for not arriving in time.

This situation will of course bring many implications in the future, especially moral ones for letting a child die in a vulnerable condition. The child who was saved may have fears to overcome or feelings of guilt.

In many moments of life, we are in the need to take action, with great implications. But we must be certain that we will always do the best we can, because things happen for a reason.

So much for my reflection today

See you in my next idea.

Funny, when I saw this question I thought it was about gender, but I like the way you add an extra layer to the decision - probably a wise move!! But what if tehy were both active? Tricky question but great answer!

Hola si tambien pense esa opción. Me imagino que si los dos estan activos, tomaría al primero que este mas cerca o el que pueda sostener, no me fijaría en su genero, los dos son igual de importantes, en esos momentos ña decisión es salvar a quien se pueda.

Hello, yes I thought about that option too. I imagine that if both are active, I would take the first one that is closer or the one I can hold, I would not look at their gender, both are equally important, in those moments the decision is to save whoever you can.

Making it out with one is better than none, after effects on both the saved and person saving will have ramifications for as long as they are alive. No time to think, dive in grab the first hand available and get out!
