Burning of Judas. Resurrection Sunday
Hello creative weekenders...
After these holy days. We return to work with new energy after some have rested and gone on vacation and others are praying and renewing their faith.
After this long week where the passion and death of Jesus Christ is commemorated, Sunday arrives, the last day of the holy week where Jesus, after dying on the cross, racists on the third day.
One of his disciples Judas, who sold him and betrayed him with a kiss. After that fact, he could not bear to have betrayed his master who already knew what was about to happen.
This deep sorrow of betrayal. He made Judas find escape from his pain by hanging himself.
Since then the faithful to the tradition of Holy Week in Venezuela make a rag doll, which pretends to be a traitor in everyday life. It is given a name that represents a political or social character that is repudiated for his actions to the country. Or it is given a title on which it manifests and represents the discontent of the population.
This doll is burned in front of everyone as a sign of justice for the betrayal of the people.
This activity is a celebration in my locality.
In the sector where I live. It is a tradition. For more than 83 years. Tradition that is attributed to a family that during all those years has organized and organized the burning....
Always as every Sunday of Judas burning, a large number of people gather to witness this act. Many are those who come from different parts of Caracas to see it, on this occasion.
The names given to the Judas were the abuser and the fascist ..... Names that for some will have more meaning than for others. However, they are words that represent the reality of some part of society.
The convocation was large and crowded. The dummy was lit and quickly consumed. It also had fireworks that began to explode at the same moment that the flames were consumed.
This tradition can be witnessed in different sectors of the city or the country. Each one places the character or protest that he/she considers.
These are traditions that I believe should not be lost because they represent us as a people and bring us closer as human beings. With history and culture.
Thanks for making it to the end...
See you in the next idea.
