Beaver Swimming and Hunting at Beaver Pond - White Woods - Morris, Connecticut - August 8, 2024
Recently I took a walk around Beaver Pond and noticed a Beaver swimming around and hunting / fishing for food. It did not seem bothered by me or my dogs standing by the side of the pond watching it for a few minutes. After about 10 minutes, I noticed two more beavers arrive and join in on the hunt. It was actually my first time ever seeing a Beaver in the wild.
Here's a 5 minute video of the first Beaver.

Beavers hunt?
I think they are vegetarian...
I thought for sure they were hunting for fish when they would dive down under water, but I just gave a quick search and it seems you are right… now I’m wondering wtf they were doing…
Maybe you thought of otters? Generally rodents eat veggies or maybe hunt insects, but nothing large.
Maybe they were digging tunnels and stuff. They actively change the waterflow around them and there is probably more to it than just dams. Maybe they were harvesting clay or looking for other construction material....
