(ESP-ENG) Una triste temporada. [Opinión]

En este espacio más allá del fútbol y de la Fórmula 1, a veces y solo a veces, decido hablar acerca del béisbol venezolano con su liga invernal. Para los que no lo saben yo soy una persona extremadamente beisbolera, voy a los estadios, fui a la Serie del Caribe que se realizó el año pasado y tuve la oportunidad de ver consagrarse, en vivo en el estadio universitario de la UCV, a los Leones del Caracas en la temporada 22-23 en aquella final contra los Tiburones de la Guaira. Pero son muchas cosas las que han cambiado desde aquel título, si bien es verdad la base del equipo sigue casi intacta hay algo que no está funcionando desde la temporada pasada y sobretodo en esta que viene siendo para mi: una triste temporada.

Decir esto hoy un 5 de diciembre puede que sea arriesgado porque ciertamente queda temporada aún, por lo menos 20 días pero es que viendo como ha sido el desempeño del equipo en ese mes y medio de béisbol da para pensar que la tendencia, lamentablemente, se va a mantener salvo haya un cambio radical a puertas cerradas. Estos problemas según yo vienen desde el diciembre del año pasado cuando el equipo se cayó a pedazos producto de un pitcheo deficiente. La situación al sol de hoy no es distinta, tenemos el peor pitcheo colectivo de la liga con una efectividad de 5.80 mientras que en la ofensiva estamos de cuartos con un AVG .284, somos el equipo con más HR, 54, de los ocho. Y es que el lineup no es malo pero lo que uno ve en el campo si es preocupante.

Pensaba que con la llegada de algunos jugadores de las grandes ligas, como por ejemplo Eugenio Suárez, ganador del Home Run Derby del día lunes, el equipo podía entrar en una fase un poco más optimista y quizás en un mejor estado de ánimo pero la verdad es que no ha sido así. Evidentemente el problema de base ha sido el pitcheo junto con una mala importación de jugadores, no se si es que no hay una planificación previamente planeada o que los jugadores en cuestión no se adaptan pero casi ningún pitcher ha funcionado como imagino se esperaba. Erick Leal es un pitcher que por varios años perteneció a los Navegantes del Magallanes, esta temporada llegó a Caracas con unas expectativas muy altas, ¿el resultado? - lamentable. Personalmente nunca me gustó, no es mal pitcher pero es uno muy descontrolado que lo trajeron por mero capricho.

En aquella temporada del 2022 el ambiente en el dogout era inigualable, existía una energía sinergia que hizo que todo saliera a la perfección. La forma en cómo asumían los turnos al bate, como corrían las bases, como se festejaban los triunfos; en la actualidad eso desapareció. Veo apatía, desgano y quizás hasta mala preparación. El CT (cuerpo técnico) fue cambiado, parte de él, pero la cabeza sigue al mando que es José Alguacil. Muchos piden su salida, yo no se si estoy en esa posición, si creo que no podemos seguir viviendo de glorias ni rentas pasadas pero definitivamente algo que hacer a nivel gerencial.

¿Estamos eliminados? - no. Estamos a un juego de la quinta plaza que la ocupa los Tiburones de la Guaira. Pero para cambiar el viraje se tiene que comenzar a jugar de manera más sólida. Es frustrante porque equipo hay de sobra pero algo en el funcionamiento no deja avanzar. Es verdad que en el béisbol hay algo que se llama "slump" que no es otra cosa que la caída a nivel ofensivo de un jugador o un equipo. Somos los que más home runs tenemos pero el bateo oportuno nos está fallando, ayer perdimos 7-0 con apenas 3 hits, esto no se puede permitir. ¿Como se sale de ese lugar? - con confianza y cambio de mentalidad porque la calidad la tienen de sobra. Esperemos que mi querido equipo de un cambio de rumbo y podamos estar en enero en el Round Robin o semifinales para lo que no conozcan el término y así mejorar un poco la imagen hasta ahora mostrada.

Coincido contigo, y creo que cuando un equipo de béisbol no se siente motivado por alguna razón la principal causa del mal desempeño es ese

Pues si, estamos ante una baja del rendimiento brutal y eso está haciendo que el equipo no funcione como debería. Veremos que pasa de acá al final de la temporada.
