(ESP-ENG) El fútbol da muchas vueltas!
Hola amigos, buenas vibras para todos.
Hello friends, good vibes to all.
A couple of months ago they were selling us the idea that the winter champion was already defined, that the advantage they had over their rivals was enough to think about the possibility of even winning the league in May. It is very true that Barcelona started the season in an excessively overwhelming way, scoring goals and above all pleasing everyone, but for some time now that functionality that they had or have on the field has not been reflected in the scoreboard and an example of this was Saturday's match against Cholo's Atletico.
The issue here is not that they lost in an unbelievable way but also that Real Madrid itself, the same one that also claimed to be immersed in a crisis, I include myself, has begun to give small flashes in their game, again, yesterday's game against Sevilla is proof of this. And so, just like that, quietly and doing the work of an ant, Atletico Madrid has won its last 7 games in La Liga to position itself as the leader of the championship. But what is the reason for all this? - Well, the usual: a slump or a bad streak. In Saturday's match the Culés were far superior to the team from the capital, the issue is that the offense is not accompanying the team and Lewandowski is totally off, non-existent in the area. If we add to this the absence of Lamine Yamal, there is no doubt there is a problem.
We are back to the usual issues with these teams and that is that you cannot depend on a single player and even less if he is 17 years old, but such is the imbalance that he generates for Barcelona that not having him on the field is very hard. As I also said, the Polish striker is going through a dark moment and that Saturday he could have scored a goal that was really more complicated to miss than to score. This Barca has a lot of “Macía” in their squad which I think is perfect but sometimes they may need something more. Pedri can't do everything, he was the best and by far the best but when the disconnection is such it is impossible to get the results you are expecting. Casadó is also showing a lot of level but in the end the result is the same, it is complex that some young players carry on their shoulders a team with so much pressure and name.
Atletico's goals in this match were the result of “mistakes or mistakes”, the first one by De Paul thanks to a bad clearance by Casadó and the second one in a counter in the last minute of the match where again De Paul leads the attack to find the Catalan defense badly stopped and thus sentenced the 1-2 with the goal of the Norwegian Sørloth. The issue here is that at times it seems that Barca has a hard time defending, personally I do not like Iñigo Martínez and although the projection of Cubarsí is very top it is also true that sometimes he can miss a few. I don't want to say that this is a crisis, far from it, but when these results become more frequent, something is definitely happening, no matter how small it may be.

Who could have thought that this Atlético would be the league leader in December? - I think absolutely no one, not even the most fanatic red and white fan. Now I ask myself another question, is this leadership is due to their own merit or because of the puncture and the weak starts of both Real Madrid and Barcelona? - I would think it is due to a mixture of both. The team led by Cholo Simeone has been more consistent than their rivals, they have managed to keep the race fought until the end and thanks to them they were able to climb to the first place. I consider that this is momentary, at any moment this club will return to the path it was on at the beginning of the season. The distance is three points, it is not a defining one by any means. One thing to keep in mind is that Real Madrid has a game in hand, so yes, this could change on Friday, January 3, when they face Valencia. For the time being, say hello to the winter champion, Atlético Madrid.
