(ESP-ENG) Batman: Caped Crusader - Serie Review!
Hello friends, good vibes to all.
One of the best universes within DC Comics is undoubtedly Batman, he is the most stylized character, one of the best developed and with an infinite range of villains equal or even better elaborated than himself. I've always been a big fan of this mythical character, that's why every time something related to him comes out I have to keep an eye on him. Many people shy away from animated series, they have the concept that they are “childish” but nothing further from reality, there are many things of this genre that can be of much better quality than something conventional. And this series is no exception, this is perhaps one of the best animated visions of Batman I've ever seen.
Thousands of similar things have been done but this one is a bit different. Basically in this series of eight chapters we will see the beginnings of Batman, that is, a young Bruce Wayne who has decided to face the criminality of the chaotic Gotham City. Set in the years 40-50 we will see a much darker Batman and more like the original comics but in a detective role, this does not mean that the essence of being the Dark Knight going through the roofs of buildings and in his Batmobile is lost, but it is true that we will see him closer to the police and detectives in order to solve things as legal as possible and above all to make it clear that he is on the right side of justice.
The plot at first seems to be a little messy but there is a common thread, I say this because here we will see the most memorable characters of this universe. Each chapter is dedicated to them but without leaving the stories of the main characters aside. With respect to the characters there is something that has to be said. If you are one of those people who are annoyed by everything you see nowadays because of the forced inclusion, I tell you not to watch this. Why? - Because for example the penguin is a woman, Commissioner Gordon is black and we see romantic relationships between two women. Honestly none of this bothered and look I have been quite critical with this issue, I think the characters are super well developed, in fact the penguin woman is spectacular, her level of evil is high which makes it more interesting.
It is a series very focused on the personality, way of being and background of certain characters; it is deeper than average. There is action of all kinds, shootings, chases, explosions, fights, etc; but also and as I said the detective environment is top, each chapter is a different case where one as a viewer plays to discover what is going on, it is so different that there is even a paranormal case and yes, we see a lot of horror there. I think this Batman is the most similar to the original version, the one in the Robert Pattinson movie: dark, violent, not very empathetic and with an immeasurable desire to do justice by catching all the criminals he can without any rest.
Another high point is the visuals. The animation is the best, super fluid, it looks really good, the design of the characters is very detailed, the setting being of the time is super marked style which makes the series stand out. For many of these reasons the series seems to me one of the best I've seen, it combines very well what it is to be Batman with the environment, the way he operates, his relationship with Alfred, as is Bruce Wayne, while in parallel we see the corruption in the police and in public office, the mafia, the villains with their plans, in short, there is a little bit of everything. Besides the Penguin we will see Harley Quinn, Catwoman, Harvey Dent, Barbara Gordon.
By the way, since this is in English, the actors used for the voices are well known: Hamish Linklater, Jamie Chung, Christina Ricci, Diedrich Bader, Jason Watkins, etc. They may not have faces, but yes, they are very well known. When they are animated works, dubbing is essential and vital to make everything come to life and above all to give more personality to the characters. I enjoyed it a lot, the chapters are less than 25 minutes, it's quick to watch. It's on Prime Video. I give it a 7.5/10. This series is getting a lot of criticism for all the above mentioned but personally I don't ride that wave, I think it's very good and worth watching.
¡Un abrazo a todos, nos vemos en la próxima!
Well my people that's all for today, I hope you liked it.
