(ESP-ENG) Verstappen campeón en un desastroso Suzuka // Verstappen champion at a disastrous Suzuka!
Hello friends, good vibes to all.
It seems that we are saying goodbye to the season when the reality is that there are still four grand prix to the culmination of the same and I say this because yesterday Max Verstappen after a chaotic race, where again the FIA did things wrong, where uncertainty reigned even at the end of the award was crowned two-time world champion with 366 points thanks to the way so splendid and abysmal with which he took advantage throughout the season and of course, at least yesterday was so, to the mistakes that came to make those who were supposed to prevent the Dutchman to take the title again.
I know that saying the latter is petty and meaningless but it is also true that there is some truth in those words, the mistakes made by Leclerc, for example, throughout the season have been countless, it is very strong that at the beginning of the season we said, because I include myself, that this would be a much closer and disputed as the level with which the Monaco started the season was amazing. But the circuits went by and the reality was becoming more and more evident, mistakes in Ferrari, mistakes made by carelessness and carelessness of himself made Max's dominance became more and more gigantic. I talk about Leclerc because he was the one who was called to overshadow him, since no driver was able to do the same.
But well, we arrived at the Suzuka circuit located in Japan with terrible conditions, the downpour that was falling on the track was torrential, something very different from what we had seen in the pole position where we even saw the sun. There are several things to rescue from that pole, the first one is the good performance of Vettel, being one of the mythical in this track it was good to see him get to Q3. Alonso also gave us a good performance but in his case it is a little more common for him to do those things; incredible how the Mercedes were never able to position themselves in the first places, this tells us about the constant of this year with them and as always the eternal fight between Leclerc and Max where the difference was only 0.010 seconds.
I'm sure things will change for Charles, I think he has the potential to be a good champion but that's just it, there are many things to improve both in his performance on track and in the performance of his team, when the Ferrari was demanded a little more was when it did worse. Anyway, another pole for Max and a 2-3 for Ferrari, which has always been there, on the verge of great things but they never happen. Ocon in a surprising fifth place who in the race would star in a pitched battle with Hamilton who finished sixth and as I already mentioned, Alonso was seventh, which meant a good weekend for the people of Alpine.
Sunday arrived and with it a very heavy rain that made the track, according to the FIA, unmanageable. An attempt was made to start the race but everything lasted only 3 laps after a series of events. The first of them a crash of Sainz against the fenders that forced him to abandon the race and a forced retirement of Albon due to a mechanical failure and this is where the unbelievable happens. With the drivers still on the track and the adverse conditions, the race direction had the brilliant idea of taking out a crane to remove the Williams car, which could have caused a fatal tragedy, reminding us of what happened with Jules Biachi. I really don't know what is going on lately with these people who seem to be making one wrong decision after another, decisions after wrong decisions that are casting more and more doubts on the people behind everything.
The red flag arrives, late but it arrives, and they decide that the conditions are not suitable for racing. It is true that the rain was intense and the visibility on the track due to the spray was almost null but in worse conditions have been raced and for that there are extreme rain tires but well, they decided that it was not possible and there was a delay of TWO HOURS. What did it cause? - Well, logically they could not do all the laps which would lead to confusion at the end of the race. It was relaunched the race and honestly what little we saw of it was quite entertaining, we saw how a Verstappen after changing to intermediate rain tires had no rival on track, so much so that he won by a difference of more than 20 seconds.
Another thing that paid for the early start was the fight between Perez and Leclerc for the second place and the one that in the end caused Verstappen to become champion. The pressure of the Mexican was barbaric, he had a better pace than the Ferrari driver who surprisingly was not performing the tires as expected to the point that just on the last lap Leclerc goes off track and shortens through the chicane gaining the position of Perez and making the latter unable to overtake him. This mistake of the Monegasque cost him a penalty of five seconds so he finished third, widening a little more the gap with Verstappen. A mistake that according to me was due to: Checo's pressure, the track conditions and of course Leclerc's lack of attention; it was not the first of the season and let's hope it was the last one.
And finally there was another battle which was quite tight and it was the one between Ocon and Hamilton. I was very surprised by the way the Frenchman defended himself, but even more surprised by the fact that the British driver was not able to overtake him to climb to fourth position. This tells us that this is definitely not the year of the former world champion, he has never been entirely comfortable with this new Mercedes and that has been reflected in the results in the different races. Good for Ocon, he is not one of my favorite drivers, but we appreciate the impetus he had to contain a Hamilton who we know is very tough on track and if he could not pass the Frenchman is because it was not really easy for him.
The race is over but not the controversies by the FIA. In total 75% of the race was not run for Verstappen to be given full points, in fact something like half of the circuit must have been run and he was still given full points. The FIA's excuse? - That the race ended with the checkered flag and not with a red flag. Max doesn't need this kind of decision because if he wasn't champion yesterday he was going to be champion in the United States or Brazil and so on. I don't understand the FIA, or at least I don't understand it very clearly; the thing is that for the second consecutive race both the race direction and the stewards were questioned by unnecessary controversies and controversies.
A decent race but it was tainted by quite unfortunate and worrying performances and situations. The next one is in two weeks and will be in the United States at the Circuit of the Americas, although it is true that the championship is decided, the fight for the positions below remains, Perez, Leclerc for second place and Russell and Sainz for fourth place.
Well friends, that's all for today, I hope you liked it.
¡A hug to all of you, see you next time!

Saludos @javyeslava.photo
