I am sure that very few times, if ever, you are going to read or hear something about opera or classical music of the level of Andrea Bocelli. The reason for this review is that this singer decided to release an album to celebrate his 30 years of career by making a compilation of all his duets throughout history. The real issue here is that among the long list of songs there are three new ones that personally surprised me and logically I liked a lot. Marc Anthony, Gwen Stefani and Chris Stapleton were the artists chosen for these songs, very different singers but with a very high quality. What this tells us is the validity with which this artist moves in spite of his genre.
- Il Mare Calmo della Sera ft. Chris Stapleton
Chris Stapleton is a country singer who is probably not well known in these parts but who I can assure you is of supreme quality. I think that many should take a walk through his music and they will be pleasantly surprised. People think of country music as a genre very different from what it really is, those songs with mandolins and cowboys jumping and waving their hats were left behind to give way to a very well done music, with incredible lyrics and with a sound approaching pop and ballad (in fact Taylor Swift came out of that genre). The thing is that this duet with Bocelli is spectacular because Stapleton has a giant vocal range that complements very well with the Italian. The song starts off very slow and then becomes very much like Chris's country. It must be said that all these songs are Bocelli's original songs that he decided to do in collaborations. For example, this one talks about infidelities and what the process represents and knowing the truth of things in a relationship. A very heartfelt theme that many can empathize with. Do yourselves a favor and listen to this great song.
- La Voce Del Silenzio ft. Marc Anthony
This is one of the songs whose melody catches me and I find it one of the most spectacular. The harmony of the violins hand in hand with the voices make a mixture of sounds that make you want to listen to the song again and again. It is not the first time that this pair of artists work together but I think that between the two songs this is the most complete. Italian and Spanish, being Latin languages, complement each other very well so listening to this is very enjoyable. Marc Anthony is one of the voices of Latin music that has more range, the ability to reach high notes and keep them in tune and elongated is great. The lyrics are a bit, as I understand it, about the absence of one person in the life of another so the silence ends up becoming a consolation or punishment, depending on how you look at it. As almost all of Bocelli's songs are very deep and sentimental, this one does not escape from that, they are a trip to different emotions, that's why it is worth taking the time to listen to them.
- Holding On ft. Gwen Stefani
I think the most unexpected was this song with the great Gwen Stefani, the former singer of No Doubt. Something that I've realized is that many times people take for granted the quality of certain artists just because they belonged to a certain group or because of the genre in which they perform. Stefani has a privileged voice, perhaps too much for that group, and people still don't see it or saw it too late. Holding On is a theme encompasses the shared struggle with the other person, is unconditional love, is to be despite the circumstances but especially when things get complicated is to continue to be. Another top melody, the game of the tones of both, the low and high; it seems like a soundtrack of a movie. I'm not usually one to listen to this kind of music but with these three songs I have to make the caveat, the background is the same but definitely the form is very different because as I said they are three very different artists from each other. In music you have to be as open minded as possible and give a chance to all genres, that's the beauty of it, in the diversity.
¡Un abrazo a todos, nos escuchamos en la próxima!
Well my people that's all for today, I hope you liked it.
