(ESP-ENG) Cash Out | The fall of a star - Movie Review!
Hello friends, good vibes to all.
I already tell you that the title of this publication has little to do with the film. It has always seemed curious to me that as time goes by for the big stars and names of Hollywood, they begin to appear in films of very low quality, artists that one would think that they have a settled life and a more than ample track record and that because of that they would not need to be “lowering themselves” to this type of productions. But as they say, “work dignifies”. What could be the reasons for this phenomenon to be happening all the time? - A question of money and debt, still wanting to be on the radar of the industry, or simply love of art?
All these questions I was asking myself as I sat watching this new movie, because yes, it is from this year. The film is about Mason (John Travolta) a professional thief who is internationally known and therefore on the most wanted list. After a job went terribly wrong he decides to retire from the “business” and live a quiet life with everything he had stolen. It went wrong because a member of his team betrayed him and that was a major blow to his morale. Determined not to commit another robbery, he spends his days in a cabin isolated from everyone.
After a while something comes up, a possible heist that he doesn't want to be part of but for obvious reasons he will have to get involved. A bank robbery, another heist that looks like it will go wrong too, he will have to shoulder it and try to make it work out in the best possible way for him and his team. The film is an ode to all the clichés that exist in this kind of movies, so much so that it is really hard to see some things, both for the plot, the story and the visual effects. How is it possible that an actor of Travolta's stature has been involved in a film like this? - Things to think about.
The plot is super linear, it is true that it has several plot twists that could be somewhat interesting but they are still not enough to give depth to the film, much less to make it slightly different from many things you've probably seen. The funny thing is that I knew what I was seeing, I knew what to expect so the only morbid curiosity I had when I played this was to see John Travolta play a role that in his best years he probably wouldn't have accepted. I think this is action although it doesn't see much of it, I would think it's more of a thriller with a bit of intrigue because at the end you don't know what can happen, this if you have to give it to him.
Visually it has its flaws, there are several things that look really fake, explosions and certain script decisions that are little understood but if there is a pro and is the handling of cameras, I think they were in charge of drones because there were very cool sequences that give some dynamism to the scenes. As for the rest, there is little to say. The performances were very strange, it seemed that they were rookies, maybe they are, those who were in front of the camera, many meaningless gestures, a beastly overacting, you could tell that everything they wanted to show and interpret was not natural. I'm not going to say I wasted my time because it made me think about the situation with these actors and I find that point of view interesting.
The decline of a star. I wish these actors would no longer participate in these things because beyond making them relevant in the industry, I feel that their images are harmed. They probably don't care, they think they have a legacy already built and they do it for the money and to pay debts, which I'm sure almost all of these figures have. I would tell them to watch it only as an experiment, I think that despite the bad thing you can see it because it is also short but do not expect much. I leave the trailer below.
¡Un abrazo a todos, nos vemos en la próxima!
Well my people that's all for today, I hope you liked it.
¡A hug to everyone, see you next time!
