(ESP-ENG) Blue Eye Samurai - Honor and revenge!
Hello friends, good vibes to all.
Finding an animated series or movie that is really worthwhile is a titanic task, there are very few, counted on the fingers of one's hands, the ones that are really worth a look. Blue Eye Samurai is a series that had been recommended to me a lot and for time reasons I had not given it a chance but friends, I regret not having seen it before and I say this for two reasons: the animation is one of the most spectacular things I've seen and because everything that has to do with the history and culture of ancient Japan is usually very interesting to me because it attracts my attention powerfully; to understand how it works with a series so well done is a marvel.
In a few words, this is a story where revenge and honor are the main protagonists, they are the engines that pull the strings of almost all the characters that we will see here. Japanese people have a high level of honor and respect towards the other, that part of the culture that comes from ancient periods even today is still maintained. Samurai, the famous Shogunate, men with swords and Katanas, Geishas, the Kabuki theater and even Harakiri are some of the things that are present and are very enjoyable. I think as many times I have thrown stones at Netflix for the poverty of its content it must be said that with this series, whose second season is already confirmed, they hit it out of home run. So without further ado let's talk about this great animated series which should be seen by everyone.
As I said this story focuses on revenge and it is one that is consuming Mizu, who is an expert and very skilled swordswoman who will have to undertake a very dangerous path to achieve her goal. We are in the Edo period of Japan, one which was managed by men and women were only left for the role of submissive wife. Mizu, besides being a woman, is also a half-breed, another of the great tragedies of those times, since she was not a pure Japanese woman, which meant a big problem since these people were seen as demons. As you can see there were many challenges that Mizu had to go through, she had almost everything against her to achieve her revenge but still with an iron temper she will not rest until she gets it.
Along the way he will meet certain characters with whom he will interact and make a space towards his goal. An apprentice who is as great as he is noble, a samurai whose honor has been wounded and to recover it he will have to face Mizu while protecting her so that nothing happens to him and a princess of a great lord who only wants to be free and make her own decisions. Along the way we will see an x-ray of how things were in the seventeenth century in Japan in a fascinating mix of culture and blood. Mizu will show us that revenge is the only option for her, but against whom? - ah, you'll have to watch the series.
One of the big plus points is the animation, I would say it is perfect. Everything about it is impressive, the gestures, the fluid movements of both natural elements and people, the textures, from how fire, water, blood, to facial expressions, colors, everything is achieved so that the result is the best that we end up seeing. This leads to scenes of infinite quality, the battles that take place are at the level of the best anime you can remember. This is not a series for children as there are explicit sexual elements, nudity and a lot of violence accompanied by blood baths, decapitations, dismemberment of bodies and mutilations; all the necessary elements to visually have an important power and depth.
The plot is quite simple, it is a person who goes after another person but on the way he will have to overcome obstacles to reach him. The real attraction is the journey and everything that Mizu lives and suffers before reaching his destination. It is here where we will see all those references that make that besides the vengeance factor we participate in all the cultural movement and how society was managed in those times. It is a very good cultural bath, it is like opening a window to the past and rediscovering many things; maybe I say all this because I am a big fan of everything that has to do with Japan but even if you are not, I am sure you will end up enjoying this great series.
But the plot has another side and it is the one that involves people as such. I really liked the whole theme of the honorability that surrounds certain characters, as I said it is not something that is very far from reality. The theme of the Geishas is also attractive and how they are an important part of society, the management of power based on the future and the legacies, how foreigners were seen in a terrible way; in the end socially it is also a gem, the story does not stay in the banal that would be killing for revenge, everything has a very interesting background that makes the series is not something animated and already, there is a lot of depth because it is a very well told story with very well structured characters.
The characters are very top, Mizu is stubborn but tough, she will understand the true value of being a samurai. Taigen, the other samurai who hangs out with her is also cool because he is the living proof of being ashamed and having the gallantry to make amends, I repeat, honor first. And well, the bad guy of the movie, Fowler, is terrible, the pure essence of evil and crudeness in a person. Actually all the characters have their highlights, there are no losses with any of them.
9.5/10, the series is spectacular in every way, the best of Netflix in recent years without any doubt. Highly recommended, it has no waste. It consists of 8 chapters of about 50 minutes each. Here is the trailer.
¡Un abrazo a todos, nos vemos en la próxima!
Well my people that's all for today, I hope you liked it.

yo quedé encantada con ésta serie, espero que salga pronto su segunda temporada. Me gustó mucho.
Si bueno, yo imagino que finales del 2024 o 2025 directamente. Pero si, la serie es de las mejores cosas que no ha dado Netflix este año.
Saludos!!
