Titane - It's good to watch unsettle movies

A few months ago I saw this movie and no matter how many times I turn it over in my head I can't find a coherent way to tell you about Titane, because the movie is not coherent, or at least it is coherent in a non-traditional way that we are used to, and it is so far out of the comfort zone in which we live that we can feel violated in more than one way because what we see goes beyond what we understand, what we can explain and what we feel.

Titane is going to tell us parts of Alexia's life and how she comes to relate with Vincent, the chief of one of the fire departments, all this while random murders are being committed in the city, people are missing and chaos is breathed in every breath of air, Alexia is not what it seems, Vincent is not what it seems, this film is not what it seems, although I don't even know what it seems to be.

Hace ya unos meses vi esta película y sin importar cuántas vueltas le de en mi cabeza no ¡’llego a encontrar alguna forma coherente de hablarles de Titane, pues la película no es coherente, o al menos es coherente en una forma poco tradicional a la que estamos acostumbrados, y se sale tanto de la zona de confort en la que vivimos que podemos llegar a sentirnos violados en más de una forma, pues lo que vemos va más allá de lo que entendemos, de lo que podemos explicar y de lo que sentimos.

Titane nos va a contar partes de la vida de Alexia y cómo esta llega a relacionarse con Vincent, el jefe de uno de los departamentos de bomberos, todo esto mientras en la ciudad están cometiendo asesinatos al azar, hay personas desaparecidas y el caos se respira en cada bocanada de aire, Alexia no es lo que parece, Vincent no es lo que parece, esta película no es lo que parece, aunque ni siquiera sé qué aparenta ser.

I don't even know what can be a spoiler or not in this movie because even if you read what happens, you don't understand it, and it doesn't have even the slightest effect that it has when you see it, fuck, I laughed in many scenes and so many others I was almost drooling from how insane and weird I was watching, how do I know it's a movie that exceeds any expectations of what is good or bad? Because I know that if I played this movie to my family they would all run out of the room and tell me to get that horrifying thing out of their sight, Shrek type saying that the dead old lady gets pulled off the table, same thing, it happened to me once while watching The Danish Girl, the first scene with Eddie wearing his wife's nightgown and they all ran out like scandalized old ladies, at this moment I laugh, but before that I was outraged.

This movie is full of an excess of questions that are answered in silence while we are watching it, although, in reality, one has to assume the answers because the movie only answers with more questions, it will only give you questions without concrete facts to identify the reasons why these things are happening, or if there is some logic, or if they are just hallucinations, or everything is a dissociation from reality, or what the fuck, in the end, we will end up accepting what we are seeing and we will find satisfaction in that.

Ni siquiera sé qué puede ser un spoiler o no en esta película, pues aunque uno lea lo que sucede, no lo entiende, y no tiene ni el más mínimo efecto que se tiene cuando se ve, joder, me reí en muchas escenas y en otras tantas estaba casi que babeando de lo insano y raro que estaba viendo, ¿cómo sé que es una película que supera cualquier expectativa de lo que es bueno o malo? Porque sé que si le pongo esta película a mi familia todos saldrían corriendo del cuarto y me dirían que quite esa cosa horrorosa de su vista, tipo Shrek diciendo que a la vieja muerta se la bajan de la mesa, igualito, ya una vez me pasó mientras veíamos La Chica Danesa, primera escena con Eddie usando el camisón de noche de su esposa y todos salieron corriendo como viejas escandalizadas, en este momento me río, pero antes me indignó.

Esta película esta llena de un exceso de preguntas que se responden en silencio mientras la vamos viendo, aunque en realidad uno tiene que suponer las respuestas, porque la película solo responde con más preguntas, solo te va a dar interrogantes sin hechos concretos que dejen identificar las razones del por qué están sucediendo esas cosas, o si hay algo de lógica, o si solo son alucinaciones, o todo es una disociación de la realidad, o qué verga, al final vamos a terminar aceptando lo que estamos viendo y encontraremos plena satisfacción en eso.

Watching this movie was an exquisite greater than you can imagine, because they only told me to watch it and that's what I did, I didn't read anything at all, I didn't watch trailers, nothing at all, and I'm glad I did it this way because if I had read any synopsis I wouldn't have understood anything and the movie would have disappointed me completely, I still would have liked it, because it is incredible, but never and never would have had the same effect as watching it without knowing anything about it, I still have to watch Raw, Julia Docournau's first movie, I just hope to see it soon.

French cinema beats by a thousand to the rest, and as I write this I just remembered another French film of which I have to talk about and I had completely forgotten it, I will have to write down at least the names of the things I have seen to not get lost, in short; French cinema has a real rawness that many films, many directors of other nationalities lack because although they try to imitate the simple, raw and strong way of showing things, of doing the scenes, it will never be equal and it will feel completely false and exaggerated.

Ver esta película fue una exquisites mayor a la que pueden llegar a imaginar, pues solo me dijeron que la viera y eso hice, no leí en absoluto nada, no vi trailers, nada de nada, y me alegra haberlo hecho así, pues si hubiera leído cualquier sinopsis no hubiera entendido nada y la película me hubiera decepcionado por completo, igual me hubiera gustado, porque es increíble, pero jamás y nunca hubiera tenido el mismo efecto que verla sin saber nada de ella, igual tengo pendiente de ver Raw, la primera película de Julia Docournau, tan solo espero verla pronto.

El cine francés le gana por mil al resto, y mientras escribo esto acabo de recordar otra película francesa de la cuál tengo que hablar y lo había olvidado por completo, voy a tener que anotar aunque sea los nombres de las cosas que he visto para no perderme, en fin; el cine francés tiene una crudeza real que le falta a muchas películas, a muchos directores de otras nacionalidades, porque aunque intenten imitar la forma simple, cruda y fuerte de mostrar las cosas, de hacer las escenas, nunca se va a igualar y se va sentir completamente falso y exagerado.

My soul needs a second part after seeing that ending, after Alexia went through what she went through, after Vincent decided to stay and help her, fuuuuck, it had been a long time since a scene filled me with so much tension and made me clench my jaw as hard as that ending, it was exquisite, the culmination of so many unusual things, we already suspected everything, of course, but the simple fact that it was true and not a hallucination is a complete orgasm that satisfies those who appreciate the film.

Here's the trailer! And I confess, if I had seen it before watching the movie, I wouldn't have seen it, because it wouldn't provoke me to do so, or maybe it would and I would have been surprised, but the trailer felt completely bland, without the twisted soul that the director put into the movie, without Alexia's passion when dancing in the car shows, and without Vincent's adrenaline when putting out the forest fires. Go see the movie without watching the trailer, expect the unexpected, and don't stop watching it, because it will make you addicted to something you didn't know existed.

Mi alma necesita una segunda parte después de ver ese final, después de que Alexia pasara por lo que pasó, después de que Vincent decidiera quedarse y ayudarla, jooooder, tenía mucho tiempo que una escena no me llenaba de tanta tensión y me hacía apretar la mandíbula tan fuerte como ese final, fue exquisito, la culminación de tantas cosas insólitas, ya sospechábamos todo, claro está, pero el simple hecho de que fuera cierto y no una alucinación es un orgasmo por completo que satisface a quienes sepan apreciar la película.

¡Aquí les dejo el trailer! Y les confieso, si lo hubiera visto antes de ver la película, no la hubiera visto, porque no me iba a provocar hacerlo, o quizás sí y me hubiera sorprendido, pero el trailer lo sentí completamente insulso, sin el alma retorcida que la directora le puso a la película, sin la pasión de Alexia al bailar en las exhibiciones de los carros, y sin la adrenalina de Vincent al apagar los incendios forestales. Vayan a ver la película sin ver el trailer, esperen lo inesperado, y no dejen de verla, pues les volverá adictos a algo que no sabían que existía.
