Hello everybody on Hive and especially the Hive Open Mic Community! My name is Jasper and I'm writing (and singing) to you from Cape Town in South Africa!

Welcome to Week 197 of the Hive Open Mic Challenge. The theme for this week is “Fall in Love”!

For those of you who don’t know, I’ve decided to alter my Three Tune Tuesday posts to be based around the Hive Open Mic theme of the week, and how I would go about tackling it. If you are wanting to take part this week, but need some help interpreting what kind of songs would suit the theme, please go check out my post here:

There are so many songs that fit this week’s theme, surely about half of all songs ever written? Here are the three I recommended in the post above:

• “Can’t Help Falling in Love” – Elvis Presley
• “I’m a Believer” – The Monkees / Smashmouth
• “You’re Beautiful” by James Blunt

Of those three, the one that I remember from my own youth that encapsulates the feeling of falling in love at first sight is “You’re Beautiful” by James Blunt.

I always found it funny that the lines go “She was with another man, but I won’t lose no sleep on that, ‘cause I’ve got a plan…” and then we go straight into the chorus and never find out about the damn plan! In fact, judging by the chorus and the rest of the song, he has no plan at all and is rather accepting of “It’s time I face the truth, I will never be with you”!
And, if we take the music video literally, this plan is to take off most of his clothes in the snow and jump off a very high cliff… Good plan! Hahaha – you can watch for yourself here:

I can’t sing as high as James Blunt, so Iet me try about 4 semi-tones lower!

Bienvenido a la Semana 197 del Hive Open Mic Challenge. ¡El tema de esta semana es “Enamórate”!

Hay tantas canciones que encajan con el tema de esta semana, ¿seguramente alrededor de la mitad de todas las canciones jamás escritas? Aquí están los tres que recomendé en la publicación anterior:

• “No puedo evitar enamorarme (Can’t Help Falling in Love)” – Elvis Presley
• “Soy un creyente (I’m a Believer)” – The Monkees / Smashmouth
• “Eres hermosa (You’re Beautiful)” de James Blunt

De esos tres, el que recuerdo de mi juventud y que resume el sentimiento de enamorarse a primera vista es “You’re Beautiful” de James Blunt.

Siempre me pareció gracioso que las líneas digan "Ella estaba con otro hombre, pero no me quitará el sueño por eso, porque tengo un plan..." y luego vamos directamente al coro y nunca nos enteramos de nada. ¡el maldito plan! De hecho, a juzgar por el estribillo y el resto de la canción, no tiene ningún plan y más bien acepta "¡Es hora de enfrentar la verdad, nunca estaré contigo"!
Y, si nos tomamos el vídeo musical al pie de la letra, este plan es quitarse la mayor parte de la ropa en la nieve y saltar desde un acantilado muy alto… ¡Buen plan! Jajaja, puedes verlo tú mismo aquí:

No puedo cantar tan alto como James Blunt, ¡así que déjame intentarlo unos 4 semitonos más bajo!
