Hello everybody on Hive and especially the Hive Open Mic Community! My name is Jasper and I'm writing (and singing) to you from Cape Town South Africa!

This is Week 129 of the Hive Open Mic Challenge, and the theme for the week is "Trust"! Usually I do the Hive Open Mic by myself, but this week I was having a braai (Afrikaans for "barbeque") with some fellow HIVERS, namely @clairemobey - the person who usually joins me on stage recently (and a great songwriter), @zakludick - Claire's partner (who is also the reason why myself and so many other people in South Africa are on HIVE at all) and their lovely daughter @aimeludick.

Claire and I (Mobey-Dick) have a little gig coming up in a couple of weeks where we will be singing mostly original songs, but she wanted me to hear this cover which turned out to be a perfect fit for this week's theme... so in the end we all got involved in this video, and all four of us will be sharing 25% of the rewards of this post:

Main Vocals: @clairemobey
Backing Vocals: @aimeludick
Shaker: @zakludick
Guitar: me - @jasperdick

The song we are singing is "You Say" by Lauren Daigle, and you only have to look at the lyrics to see why it fits the theme of "Trust" so well... Claire also explains why this song is important to her in the video.

Lyrics

I keep fighting voices in my mind that say I'm not enough
Every single lie that tells me I will never measure up
Am I more than just the sum of every high and every low
Remind me once again just who I am because I need to know
Ooh-oh
You say I am loved when I can't feel a thing
You say I am strong when I think I am weak
And you say I am held when I am falling short
And when I don't belong, oh You say I am Yours
And I believe (I)
Oh, I believe (I)
What You say of me (I)
I believe
The only thing that matters now is everything You think of me
In You I find my worth, in You I find my identity
Ooh-oh
You say I am loved when I can't feel a thing
You say I am strong when I think I am weak
And you say I am held when I am falling short
When I don't belong, oh You say I am Yours
And I believe (I)
Oh, I believe (I)
What You say of me (I)
Oh, I believe
Taking all I have, and now I'm laying it at Your feet
You have every failure, God, You have every victory
Ooh-oh
You say I am loved when I can't feel a thing
You say I am strong when I think I am weak
You say I am held when I am falling short
When I don't belong, oh You say I am Yours
And I believe (I)
Oh, I believe (I)
What You say of me (I)
I believe
Oh, I believe (I)
Yes, I believe (I)
What You say of me (I)
I believe

Goodness me - Austria? I have been close (Munich in Germany or the Dolomites in Italy) but never Austria... something for the list!

Although recently I did a transfer through Vienna airport because my original connecting flight to Hamburg was cancelled! I got to see all the wind turbines and how close they are to the airport, which was very exciting as I am a renewable energy developer in South Africa and our airports still want turbines to be very far away - haha!

Hahaha - we managed to get Zak to trust that the barbeque fire would be fine for one take of the video! We got to celebrate with some delicious food afterwards as well as tinkering away on other songs!

Thanks a Lot. Yeap. I play guitar since 1994. Later in 2000 I start with drums. And some bass, keys, pads, some vocal too. I built a freak homemade Drum in 2008 and well I make a little bit Experimental music, and in blockchain since 2017, and in Hive since starts this Blockchain :)
Yes here in this part of the world exist a Lot of good músicians. 😊🙏🎸

Variety is the spice of life! You'll find 9 inch nails next to Taylor swift on my Playlist 😂. Love it! Sticking to one genre keeps one's world closed. I love experiencing all kinds of music.

Yeah I like both. I Saw NIN in a concert one day and was amazing. I just play industrial metal since 1999 to 2002 here in two bands here in My country. I listen all kind of músic genres. Because I had to play for living in bars and pubs stuffs like that. Now I love to fusión ancestral world músic (amazonian forest chamánism kind of vibes with extreme metal) I listen a band from New Zealand: Alien Weaponry, that inspire too much like Sepultura (old times), Gojira, Decapitated and others bands that mix the tribal músic with metal. My life was so extreme in the past and I play metal músic for that but, I love to play others stuffs, I built musical Instruments too, very Steampunk, and play with saws and a violín bow for example, very slow tunes too. I don't have limits for creativity because life it's too short. Cause of that I have more than 1800 vids in My Youtube channel (Puku) I just followed early there, and in that channel I upload a Lot of experiments and here too in Hive. I studied informátic engenier, electrónics, plástic art and antropology in the university (later I become university professor before the crisis here), and I mix all of My knowlegde with the art that I Made: midiart, Nft tattoos, músic sounds become canvas I mean l love make fusions :p blessings and have an amazing day

Holy hell, you sound like an absolutely phenomenal person.

I can definitely relate to metal actually being therapeutic for ptsd. It is my dream to become a qualified psychologist one day, so I intend to find the data to prove my theory.

But yes. Each genre, each artist, each instrument plays a different chord in my soul and each is as important as the next.

NIN, ACDC, Marylin Manson (yes I know he's weird AF and I'll need therapy after the show) and Rammstein are on my bucket list to see live.

We don't get as many international artists here, especially from the grunge/ rock/ heavy metal scene, but I'm holding thumbs I'll get the opportunity one day!

Yes of course the Mosh pits are amazing for a Lot of stuffs and remove Bad energies. The metal concert audience are amazing for that.
Marilyn it's awesome. One of My bands was just like them (with the outfits) we are very mad at that times lol
Orimusic and myself hace a Community here in Hive about 100% rock and metal #pukumundo. And we love Rammstein. Sadly in this country nobody comes for the extremely dangerous situation since many years ago but we are here. In the resistance and making músic and rock beside the hard times crisis over here lml
Well I like Ninja band: Die Antwoord, and the movie: Chappie, was very freak when they start. Now sucks...
And Well i'm a very complicated person. I Survive cáncer two times. A Big bus pasa over me, I felt to a paragliding to the ground, I felt into a horse riding to the ground and many others stuffs and I survive lol. Now I have an aid foundation here for helping others for being a grateful living person :)

I remember being in dingy goth/ metal clubs in the early 2000's. In the dark with just a UV light, a strobe light and a smoke machine. Those were the days. The dance floor was my "church".

Die Antwoord started out really cool with all their Zeff'-ness, but I believe after talking to people in the industry that they're just a bunch of self centered twats now. sigh

Gosh you have had one hell of a journey! It's incredible to hear other peoples experiences. Sometimes we really need that for perspective.

You're still here for a reason.

Remember that.

Now I just need to repeat that to myself <3

Wow this has been beautiful friends, you make an excellent team and we hope to see you more often doing this kind of reunion, you all undoubtedly stood out and shined with this magnificent song that we really didn't know but we love it already.
Now dear friend an important suggestion, it is good to place the link or source of the lyrics so that it directs to the page where it was obtained. This way we give the credit, if you want you can edit the post and visit some examples of our other brothers in the community.
Please don't stop and I hope to see you often.

Never knew @clairemobey sings so beautifully.. oh my.. I love that song.. I could imagine we all filling up that room that room and lifting our hands up to God saying we believe.
It's a strong confession from the heart and you all did it so well.

@jasperdick your guitar strumming is epic. Wow. I have some to learn from you, you were a bit far from the camera hehehe..

Thanks so much for this heart warming song. And kudos to the other awesome people @aimeludick and @zakludick .. nice to meet the family.
