MUSIC: Three Tune Tuesday 68 - 3 Songs about "Not Living in Fear" (2 Covers and an Original!)
Hello everybody on HIVE, and especially the Music Community. My name is Jasper and I'm writing (and singing) to you from Cape Town, South Africa.
This is my third week contributing to "Three Tunes Tuesday", started by @ablaze.
I thought it would be good to continue building my mini-set of 2 cover songs and 1 original song around a theme. This week I've chosen a more uplifting theme about living your life to the fullest, chasing dreams, and not living a life where fear inhibits you!
The first song is "Let Me Die in my Footsteps" by Bob Dylan. This is actually about not living in fear of the cold war and a bomb dropping on the USA, but I remember thinking it was an amazing song to describe the Covid Pandemic, when people were living in complete fear of the virus as well as the lockdowns destroying the economy and our livelihoods... see what you think?
The next song is an absolute beauty by John Mayer called "Walt Grace's Submarine Test, January 1967" about a man who was called crazy by his wife and friends for dreaming about building his own submarine and exploring the oceans, only to succeed despite them. Here is the lyric video:
Finally, my original song for the week is called "Factory Town". I did write it with a real factory town in mind, Secunda, because that was where I worked my first job as a junior process engineer. I decided to abandon that career in order to live somewhere far more beautiful and have a much more balanced and adventurous life instead. Because of that, I now think of Factory Town as my song to remind me not to crave safety in my life out of fear (as is my habit if I'm honest) and to rather live life to the fullest! I hope you enjoy it. Please find the lyrics below:
Factory Town
All my life, I've been waiting
For the day, that I turn eighteen
'Coz all my life, I've been held down
Growing up, in this Factory Town
No no no, Mother and Father, let me go
There is a whole world, I need to know
Mother and Father, don't drag me down
Life is just too short, for Factory Town...
All my friends, I've seen them come and go
Freedom is a word they'll never know
All the girls are factory secretaries...
And all the boys are factory employees
Oh no please, MoMother and Father, let me go
There is a whole world, I need to know
Mother and Father, don't drag me down
Life is just too short, for Factory Town...
This town won't drag me down, no I don't need no factory town
This town won't drag me down, no I don't need no factory town
This town won't drag me down, no I don't need no factory town
Shit town won't drag me down, no I don't need no factory town
Thanks for listening! Have a great week and see you again next Tuesday!
THE END

Bravo!!!!... I loved "Factory Town", great song.... The letter is a sea of reflection and brought to my memory many "turning points" throughout my life, in which one decides to put before that natural desire to "do what we like" instead of "opt for the safe and advisable".... Listening to it sung by you has been a pleasure... Excellent interpretation... Congratulations!...

very nice songs jasper they r all good but the second one was my favorite🤩
Yeah, the second one is a special song! John Mayer is not just a pop-star, but has a lot of depth in folk, blues and deeper messages. He's also a really fantastic lead guitarist if you watch his concerts.

Hombre... Demasiado genial. Tu pasión y entrega son cosas especiales 🌌✨✨✨
His comment (Google Translate): Man... What do I tell you?? It is always a charm to listen to you, you have the spark man! Too cool. Your passion and dedication are special things
My response: Thank you so very much! I'm really enjoying this challenge I'm setting myself... what theme describes my own original song? What two covers can I learn to set that up and bring the total to "Three Tunes Tuesday"?
Well that Bob Dylan song was really good, and your original song was the best ending!! 🙂
Man, there's a song that I loved ever since I heard it on the TV series "the end of the fucking world". The song is "Walking All Day" by Graham Coxon. I think that song would suit you very well, for the TTT 😎🎶🎶🎶
Thank you so much - I must check it out! I've never heard of Graham Coxon before.
🙌🎶🎶🎶
His comment (Google Translate): Very short... I think it's the first time I'm listening to you, my brother, you really have a talent and a unique sound.
My response: Thank you so much! It's been really wonderful to find such an engaging platform - this is only my third week on Three Tunes Tuesday, but the plan is to do two cover songs and an original song around a theme for as long as I can...
You have a nice voice. Thanks for signing my favourite song.
Thank you my friend. Have a great day ❣️
Thank you so much! Where are you from?
Which song is your favourite? The John Mayer one?
Thanks for asking. I am from Bangladesh. I like the lyrics of this song very much
Let Me Die in my Footsteps
I stand up and applaud you my friend. You are a spectacle. What a great artist. I enjoyed your work and it's good to see you enjoy what you do. Keep the music playing lml
Thank you so much! I must say I am a naturally shy person so this is a great platform for me to connect to the music, although I am starting to get more comfortable playing in public. A much older legendary songwriter told me that he still gets nervous, and that it means he still cares - I think that's true - it's good that it's still very exciting to play music in public or on HIVE!
Wow Jasper! What a whopper of a post! Beautiful!
That John Mayer song is gorgeous:
"Now his friends bring him up when they're drinkin'
At the bar with his name on the side
And they smile when they can
As they speak of the man
Who took a homemade, fan-blade
One-man submarine ride"
Love it... what a legend and a great and lesser known Bob Dylan song too, really enjoyable tunes and a really nice theme this week.
Interesting hearing that you are an engineer by trade, I am too, but I'm a Telecoms engineer here in Ireland. I really enjoyed listening to the background of Factory Town, as that can be the making of a song, giving the audience an insight into its conception.
Once again, I feel that your song sits proudly alongside Mayer and Dylan, well done my friend. Fantastic stuff again this week, a real treat.
Well done as always Jasper! I'm thinking i must also get in the three tunes Tuesday band wagon.
