Focus on what's important - A photo lesson
There's a street there with cars passing by... So i went into the field dropped the camera low and focused on what's important.
There's a parking lot here...
You can see it in this picture from earlier... where I made the decision to keep the parking lot in the image because if I went too low I'd miss out on the beautiful sun rays shining through.
But in that previous shot I didn't need the parking lot. It wasn't part of my story and people would focus on it too much. So I looked at things differently and focused on what's important.
I framed this this way for a reason. It's a panorama I could have kept on going and going. But just to the right of the frame are stop lights. And to the left isn't of note... I put into the frame exactly what i thought was important. And of course... again I went low enough to avoid the distracting road. And I focused on what's important.
IN OUR LIVES...
I'm going to go out on a limb and say: We should focus on what's important in our own lives.
Today, tomorrow and every day from now on there will be so many things that can distract you.
“You will never reach your destination if you stop and throw stones at every dog that barks.”
― Winston S. Churchill
In the news they'll work their hardest to have you focused on what you can't change and get you fixated on a story somewhere far away and use anger and despair to have you sit on the couch or at the computer FIXATED on elsewhere...
When the real thing to realize is there are so many important things you could be doing to change the world around YOU. If only you weren't so... distracted.
“It is not our part to master all the tides of the world, but to do what is in us for the succour of those years wherein we are set, uprooting the evil in the fields that we know, so that those who live after may have clean earth to till. What weather they shall have is not ours to rule.”
― J.R.R. Tolkien, The Return of the King
Maybe you'll be a light on a hill pointing to good things... instead of pointing out and having people always pay attention to the bad.
Brilliant and amazing to see that
That's a funky fresh building. Nice shots! Resteemed.
Hi friend @jarvie.
A totally applicable and at the same time beautiful analogy.
Just as in photography, perspective can give us a totally different landscape. Focusing on what really matters, we can be successful and achieve our goals. As you say: "without being distracted", we can discover treasures.
All best, Piotr.
