Everyone's responsibility, for a good year… LOH-168

Changes in my country. Historically, democracy was the political project of the 20th century and should be of the 21st century, just as in the 19th century the political project was Emancipation and the Republic.

In the last two decades we have had the terrible experience of autocracy and dictatorship and the destruction of the economy and its perverse consequences on society.

Mass emigration, majority impoverishment, and dislocation of the social fabric. A huge setback in the historical sense, which placed the country and its people in prostration and discouragement.

But societies do not commit suicide and there is always a group of people who do not give up and fight beyond mere survival.

We are entering a political phase, 2023-2024 with objective possibilities of change, just as at the global geopolitical level, oil is once again becoming an opportunity as a dynamizing lever of our economy.

It is not a return to rentism, but a real possibility of resuming the path to development and democracy, interrupted in recent decades.

The first thing is to understand that both concepts, development and democracy, are part of the civilizational evolution of humanity and whose origins are Western, but which today are universal expectations.

As reality is always evolving and changing, so the meaning and scope of many concepts are changing, which forces a permanent theoretical update.

Today, the word democracy transcends the political, just as development transcends the economic. Democracy is not only suffrage and the division of powers, but a system of coexistence and universal rights.

I am a realistic woman, and my critical thinking makes me expectant to change in my country. Just as development is much more than GDP, although development requires a healthy economy, but one that is projected on the social totality, that is, all sectors of society, in a supportive way and aiming not only at material well-being but at the quality of life in our homes.

Our people, we have understood this, and we have paid a very high price, in every sense.

They have been difficult years and full of uncertainty, but we have the direct responsibility to turn this new year 2024 into “a good year”, starting with our family, work, neighborhood, and community environment, I think that guiding and collaborating is a solution of freedom and democracy

I hope to respond to your proposal, Mrs. @joanstewart, to the LOH- contest 168. In these times a society should always be mobilized for freedom and in our case for a democracy that generates opportunities and progress. And I want to think that remains the goal until achieving it.

Accepting the life I have in my country and filling myself with hope is a very healing learning, it gives me peace.
