2nd December 2022

Going to shops is my not-so-favorite thing to do in life because I would waste a lot of money if I do. There are always a lot of temptations inside any shop. Yet, I still go, not to buy things at all times, but to explore the shop most of the time. Who cares anyway? Even the owner don't. I just love to see different beautiful things inside. I'm not just into pretty items, but unique ones.

We visited a museum one day in spring, that was, after postponing our plan to hike a mountain since the rain poured that morning. It was a holiday in HK, and my buddy and I felt bored and wanted to visit a place. Since we can not go to the mountains, we opted to visit a museum somewhere in the Cultural District of Hong Kong. One of these days, I will share with you my blogs about this museum.

The first thing that caught my interest as I stepped into the building was the M+ Shop. I thought it was simply a bookstore or a souvenir shop, but as I entered inside, I was surprised and amused by the collections of things being sold in this shop.

Located on the ground floor near the reception area of the M+ building is The M+ Shop which allows visitors of all ages and the shop has a lot of positive aspects. Its main goal, for instance, is to instill the visual culture community in the country and Asia with the support of different artists, organizations, as well as the public. Moreover, all profits from the sold items will be used for any activities initiated by M+. Source.

Stepping into the center part of the shop, I feel like I traveled back in time. It's nostalgic and full of memorabilia from Hong Kong's good old days. An old weighing machine, piggy banks, old soft drinks brands, toys, old kettles, other old homewares, HK food, picture cards, and more HK memorabilia.

They keep changing the concept in this pavilion because when I went back to this shop last weekend, it has other displays and a concept again. Currently, it displays different collections of books for sale from Taschen. It is a publisher of beautiful books and highly collectible art series.

The interesting part here is, this publisher is carbon neutral and supports zero carbon publishing.

People are visiting the place, not just to see the beautiful books, but they are free to read them. The place offers seats for those who stay for a while and read books.

The last time I visited the place, I was also able to read books along with others. There are a lot of books here about architecture, health, lifestyle, art, motivation, history, and even books for children.

Furthermore, the bookshelves are always attractive with creative displays not just with books, but also with different artwork. So one would think it is a bookshop as there are a plethora of books in all corners of the shop.

Aside from memorabilia and beautiful books, this shop is also full of contemporary art inspired by the M+ Museum.

There are contemporary ceramic arts, handcrafted products, acrylic paintings, and other artwork.

These artworks, for instance, are based on some of the displays at M+ Museum by known artists. One of these days, I will share with you my visit to this museum.

Meanwhile, the prints on these items represent the year of Tiger 2022. Time really flies too fast. In less than a month from now, we will be welcoming a new year again.

There are more creative artworks in this shop. These chairs are creatively made from baseballs. On the shelves are more contemporary ceramic art.

There are also selected merchandise and apparel from their associated brands.

These print edition items are cute, aren't they?

There are accessories, stationary, and HK food snacks in this shop too.

All products and publications are also available online for those who want to order from different parts of the world. Just click here to be directed to its online shop.

You can check this video about this shop.

This is so perfect for those people who love art and book at the same time. The shop was amazing and yes, the shelves are designed and positioned very well. There are unique items and art that I saw. Hmm, I wonder how much are those? I bet it's pricey. !PIZZA

What an amazing place sis! I can stay at Carbon Neutral and just laze around, lol! It's nice that places like that are becoming a thing these days, where people can read for free.

Wow! This was a truly amazing place! I have never seen it, nor even heard of it! The books really took my eye, and honestly, the set up with the baseball chairs. :) A lot of thought was put into this, wasn't it? What a wonderful place I have been clicking on all the links you put in!

Thank you! Truly an amazing place!!! I am so glad you stumbled into it! Thanks for being part of #MarketFriday!

I enjoy learning about the world and how it is to live in your corner of it, and if there are solutions to making it better in any way. I find it interesting to compare, not by the world's standards, but, by how we find the quality of our life with different indicators than the world does. It is not always about the wealth in money, sometimes money means very little when there is no value behind it. You cannot buy health although you can take care of what you have. Being educated isn't always about schooling, but acquiring knowledge and using it for the better good and happiness of the society you are living in. It is with great pleasure that I read through this and all of the posts, with these thoughts in mind.

Don't miss the small things in your life, they usually make no noise but can be indicators of bigger things. I enjoy learning more about you and hope you feel the same, that is why I find it important to take the time to read a couple of #MarketFriday posts and leave a genuine comment. It is important for a community to do this, learning about others, and getting to know each other. The fun is in getting to know people and making a positive contribution to community life. All this fun and money too. What is not to love? That is one of the reasons I joined Hive. How about you? :) I leave you with the guidelines. I hope you are having an amazing week!

Fridays are all about the #MarketFriday Challenge! Looking to take part in it? Here is how:

Rules of the Road to Join #MarketFriday!

  1. Go to the market, or anywhere that you pay money for a service. It can be a movie, an auction, or even a museum. Wherever money is exchanged for a service or product.
    Take pictures! Be creative!
  2. Tell us a little bit about the market or the event. What brought you there? What did you buy? How much did it cost? Was it expensive? Did it go up or down? A scroll of pictures with few words doesn't usually work.
  3. Post the pictures. Of course, you should tell a little bit about the ones you post, it is too difficult to guess about some.
  4. Use the MarketFriday Community Platform to post (#hive-196308) This is not required but appreciated.
PLEASE Drop the link into the MarketFriday comment section so I can find it!!
  5. Following me and reblogging the post would be appreciated, but not a rule, more vision for more views on the #MarketFriday posts!
    7. You must put #MarketFriday by @dswigle somewhere on your post.

As always, please remember! #MarketFriday loves you!
