Is it true that images created by artificial intelligence are copies of real images, are they really good plagiarism?

I am not an expert in Artificial Intelligence, but I know that machine learning is based on pattern recognition, it starts by feeding it with a lot of information about a specific subject so that it learns.

So I wonder, artificial intelligence that generates images that, supposedly, are not copyrighted, are somehow copies of the information that was once used for them to learn to draw those images?

So I wonder: Are they really good plagiarisms of existing images?

I have seen an artificial intelligence tool that allows us to make a copy of any image we like and then use it free of copyright since it is not the original image of the person who made it or took it. They are similar images but they are not the same. So they do not require or do not infringe copyright.

Possibly, in the not-too-distant future, they will create a law that avoids this type of thing.

Maybe I'm speculating and will be booed by AI lovers.

But it's a doubt I've had, I won't deny that the images these artificial intelligences create are not unique, impressive, fantastic, and spectacular. And I may not be able to create that quality myself for the rest of my life.

Obviously, I am not saying that they are perfect. Many times they have details, which are not perceived with the naked eye, for example, the number of fingers and toes, the random letters they write, and most of the time when you create animals, they have more legs than they should have, etc. 

Don't they know how many legs a dog or cat has? Wow! There are really a lot of questions to answer if I go deeper into the subject.
