Metformin for Anti Aging?

Hi Friends,

As much as it sucks... aging is a natural process that all of us will experience as we get older.

While there is no way to completely stop the aging process, there are certain treatments and products that can help delay or minimize the visible signs of aging (*until we can cure this illness). Recent studies have suggested that metformin, a common diabetes drug, may be a viable treatment for anti-aging.

In this blog post, we will talk bout this drug, the potential risks associated with using metformin for anti-aging, and why it may be an effective option for some people.

Time waits for no one, so let's get talking.

Metformin, what is it, and where does it come from?

Metformin is a medication used to treat type 2 diabetes. It is used to control blood sugar levels by helping the body respond better to insulin.

From my limited study on the topic, Metformin works by reducing the amount of glucose that is released by the liver and also by decreasing the absorption of glucose in the intestines.

It is also used to reduce the risk of cardiovascular events associated with type 2 diabetes, as well as to reduce the risk of complications due to type 2 diabetes.

It is an oral medication that is prescribed by a doctor, and it is available in both generic and brand name forms. Metformin was first developed in the 1950s in France, but is now widely used around the world. It is an important part of treatment for type 2 diabetes, and its use has been linked to improved blood sugar control with fewer side effects than other diabetes medications.

As with most things however, sometimes, the secondary effects were not know until later on.

What is anti-aging research?

Anti-aging research is a field of study focused on understanding the biological processes that accelerate or slow down the aging process. It seeks to uncover ways to extend the natural lifespan, improve overall health and wellness, and prevent age-related diseases.

This research has the potential to significantly improve the quality of life for people across the world, and is, therefore, a very important topic of study. It encompasses a wide range of areas such as genetics, nutrition, exercise, and lifestyle modifications.

In addition to studying the aging process at a cellular level, researchers are also exploring using drugs (such as Metformin) and hormones to slow the aging process. Ultimately, the goal of anti-aging research is to find ways to extend a healthy lifespan and improve the quality of life for people around the world. This is a topic I find very interesting.

Metformin is it a "wonder drug," and what is a "wonder drug"?

Metformin is a medication commonly prescribed to treat type 2 diabetes as mentioned above. It has been referred to as a 'wonder drug' due to its many benefits, including its ability to reduce blood sugar levels and even reduce the risk of certain cardiovascular conditions.

Metformin has also been found to be beneficial for weight loss, management of polycystic ovary syndrome, and prevention of certain cancers.

Please remember it is important to note that while Metformin can be beneficial, it is still important to follow a healthy lifestyle, including eating a balanced diet and exercising regularly, as well as regularly monitoring blood sugar levels.

A 'wonder drug' is a term used to describe a medication that has exceptional efficacy in treating a condition or illness. So, I belive that Metformin may have many beneficial effects, it does fall under the umbrella of a 'wonder drug'.

Just read this excerpt of a recent study.

Patients using metformin reported significantly lower rates of MS pain in all these sites vs. people with diabetes on other treatment. The associations were significant for both men and women, and generally stronger in women. This association with metformin alleviating MS pain has been shown in other studies. Source

What Are the Side Effects and Risks of Metformin?

Metformin, from my research, it is generally well tolerated but can have minor side effects and risks.

Common side effects at higher doses include nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and diarrhea. Additionally, Metformin can cause low blood sugar levels, which may lead to headaches, dizziness, sweating, and confusion.

It can also affect the kidneys and liver, leading to a decrease in kidney function, and can rarely cause lactic acidosis. Metformin may also interact with other medications, including antibiotics and hormonal birth control, and may cause a vitamin B12 deficiency.

As with any biohacking on your body, it is important to speak to your healthcare provider about any side effects or risks of Metformin before taking the medication.

Biringin it all together.

In conclusion, Metformin is a commonly prescribed medication for managing diabetes, as it helps to lower blood sugar levels. While it is generally safe, there are some potential side effects to be aware of. It is important to discuss any potential risks with your doctor before starting this or any other medication.

Metformin has been around for decades and has proven to be a reliable treatment for many people with diabetes. As such, it is often referred to as a “wonder drug”.

The main take away from this article is summed up here :

Metformin has been shown to have anti-cancer and anti-cardiovascular disease benefits. It can also reduce pre-diabetics’ chances of developing the disease by a third.” Source.

  • What do you think about Metformin?
  • Would you take it, or did you take it?

Myself, I recently ordered some Metformin from Japan and am planning to begin a 30-day regimen of taking one 500 mg pill per day.

This is to evaluate the effects on my overall health. I hope that it will have a positive impact on my health. I am very excited to see if this drug helps with my current ailments and am looking forward to monitoring my progress over the next 30 days. I will report back later on if people ask.

Cheers!
