Apocalyptic Homesteading (Day 1148)
Hello Everyone!
Another day of pseudo-rest, Some deep dreaming, Good ole algae water & The sulfur and lime dip is working!
Alright, I am starting my evening writing routine a wee bit earlier than usual... and am hoping to wrap things up early as well. Since I already did a good bit of writing today with another of those Something Different posts I am unsure how many words I have left in me for the day... but we will see how things work out.
Yesterday, I took the day off to rest... and then decided that since all my muscles were still aching this morning... that I should take another day off... and rest some more. For someone who just spent the bulk of the previous forty-eight hours asleep (mostly via naps) you would think that I would be feeling quite rested... but aside from some of the ache in my muscles dissipating... I do not feel all that rested at all.
Most of that probably has to do with how vivid and ranging from semi-lucid to lucid that my dreams have been... and feeling more than a little mentally (and albeit emotionally) worn out from it all to boot. No complaints there or anything because the dreams were 'illuminating' to say the least... but I was trying to get some actual rest and not wear myself out more.
Maybe if you do not 'dream heavy' then you cannot quite grasp how engaging it can all be... and for lack of a better way to put it... it is much like living an entirely different life... than the waking one whose experiences are vastly less rich contextually speaking. If I had to choose which was 'more real' (to me) betwixt my waking and dreaming worlds I would inevitably say that the latter always eclipses the former.
All that jazz aside, the weather has continued to be rather chilly... but thankfully I have not had to drain the water system over the last few days. It is worth noting that after leaving it off for several days in a row (while it got below freezing repeatedly) when I turned it back on a bunch of green gunk (probably algae) shot out so hopefully that knocked the algae problem back some.
It is kind of a mess when it comes to that stuff but I have yet to successfully convince anyone that the well water needs testing... and potentially shocked with chlorine for good measure. For now I have taken to hiking across the property... and getting my drinking water from one of the spigots close to the well head... but yeah that is as much of a hassle to do each day as it sounds like... so meh!
On a different note. That sulfur and lime dip that I used on that dog with the mites is working rather well... and I can already tell a huge difference only a few days after applying it. Even when I do the brushing (which I waited a day or two to do after said first treatment) I can tell a big difference in how much dandruff comes off with each brush stroke.
I have still been applying the pyrethrin ear drops on occasion when I see her scratching a lot... but the scratching mainly seems to occur when I run the recirculating oil heater... and the air in the cabin grows quite dry... which in turn dries her skin out. In hindsight I wish that I had tried that sulfur and lime dip first... but it being super cost prohibitive... and also some pretty foul stuff to boot... I went with it as a last resort.
Well, that is all for this entry because I just do not have it in me to share more this evening. Keep on keeping on, be well and if possible try to be a better person tomorrow than you were yesterday... or even today! Ta ta for now and have a nice time.
I don't have lucid dreams, per se, but I have very vivid dreams at times. Not enlightening or entertaining, but I sometimes wake up feeling exhausted as if I hadn't slept at all.
Yeah, even those vivid ones can really wear on a fella!
And they never involve bikini models on the beach. I demand a refund.
You definitely got the short end of the stick on that one!
