Splinterlands Art Contest Week 281! Fenmoor Haunt

Hi fellow Splinterlands Artists! This week, what I decided to enter in the contest is Fenmoor Haunt, a Melee attack unit with the Sneak Ability belonging to the Death Element.

It was released when the Rebellion pack came out. Fenmoor is great for sneak attacks because it only consumes a small amount of mana.

I chose to draw Fenmoor because I wanted to draw something dark, with only some parts of the body in color and most of the drawing consumed by a dark background.

So, I started my drawing by making a rough sketch.

I used a somewhat different style for this drawing because the colors will come from the background layer.

Most of the top layer is just outlines because I colored all the dark areas that I thought should be dark.

Once I finished the outline, I used a thick brush to bring out only the minimal parts of the drawing. I also used a rough brush for the effect of the artwork fading into darkness.

After finishing the outline, I started coloring the image. As usual, I began with just the base color.

Once I indicated the base color for each part, I started shading.

I struggled a bit with shading because I wasn't sure which brush to use.

After finishing shading, I created a new layer on top of the outline to add other shading effects. I'm not very used to drawing smoke effects, so I didn't get it quite right.
