Splinterlands: Devious and Chaos

(Edited)

Another week for @splinterlands battles weekly, this is a good time to share your matches and get some awesome rewards and upvote from @steemmonsters.(old splinterlands account)

It is an opportunity to make a great content and get rewarded heavily by doing it, I would encourage everyone to make this thing more "challenging" and make great contents by sharing your battles, let's level this up and share to the world how cool @splinterlands is!

This week's theme is "Dragons" and here is my entry for this week. I hope you enjoy it.

“O Captain of the Dragonsguard!
Your blade is sharp, your soul is hard;
The list’ning ears, the watching eyes,
Don’t take me from the clear blue skies.”

-Traditional Lunta Kalna Poem

Dragon is a great set of splinter and they have really strong monsters, their summoners make your gameplay versatile and less predictable too, I love playing dragon, it's just it's monsters are kind of expensive, if one has dragon deck. He's damn lucky!

The Dragon Splinter of Draykh-Nahka is the home of the Dragon people. Also known as the united Gloridax, the people and Dragons of this Splinter will stop at nothing to protect the Fire Blood. The Gloridax are themselves ruled by rigid bureaucracy, and they attempt to rule the Splinterlands through a web of power, treachery and financial control.

Let me show you a one of my battle with a Dragon summoner and show how it helped me win the match.

My Lineup

image.png

  • Summoner:

    • Quix the Devious - It posses the ability to deduct 1 Range and 1 Speed to opponents monster, it can also summon a different type of splinter based on your chose aside from the Dragon splinter.

  • Tank:

    • Djinn Chwala - It posses the Thorn ability. When hit with a Melee attack, this monster does 2 damage back to the attacker, although the damage is affected by shield, if the attacker has Shield ability, it will have 1 damage instead of 2. I mainly used this card for that purpose to give damage to his tank even when he is attacking me.

  • Second Position

    • Scavo Chemist - It posses the Cleanse ability which removes all negative effects on the monster in the first position on your team.

  • Third Position

  • Fourth Position

    • Chaos Dragon - It possesses Flying and Scattershot abilities, it also has great armor and health. Flying helps this monster evade a lot of attack and with Scattershot it will hit random enemy units and it will disregard Taunt ability.

  • Fifth Position

    • Naga Assasin - This monster is a low mana high speed monster, and you can fit it in any lineup I specifically used this monster to fill in the slot since it only needs 2 Mana to use this card it also has incredible 5 Speed.

Close Range - Range attacks can be used and attack in the first position in the battle.

Noxious Fumes All monsters starts the battle poisoned.

Battle Cometh

  • I have executed my game plan successfully and won the game though it has some flaws.

Here is what happened to the match.

  • Round 1
    • Not much happened on this round though I almost killed his tank and leave 3 HP when Chaos Dragon decided to hit the tank first, so by second round and being affected by poison, his tank will start Round 2 with only 1 Health.
      image.png
  • Round 2
    • Round 2 started and most of our monster was affected by poison but not my Forgotten One of course, in this round my Chaos Dragon delivered a finishing blow to his tank, and killed his tank it 2 rounds. Though they managed to snipe my Scavo Chemist, it has done its purpose and did a Cleanse to my tank, which is his main purpose. I also want to point out that his usage of Disintegrator worked well for him on the most part because of it my sneak could not take down his backline support as much as I want to. Though I have a huge advantage going into Round 3.
      image.png
  • Round 3
    • Going into round 3 I have huge advantage and it is obvious in the end of Round 3, that his monsters are doomed, with poison coming all his monster will be down to 3 to 5 HP and his ranged attacker would die, and I still need to attack for that round while my monsters at the back are still relatively healthy i.e Chaos Dragon and Forgotten One. At the end of Round 3 only his Disintegrator is alive and would probably die, even when Round 4 isn't starting yet.
      image.png
  • Round 4
    • At round 4 the match concluded even before my monsters are able to attack, since poison killed his last standing monster. I would say that my plan worked out well just like any other match I had in Noxious Fumes ruleset.

Thought Process

  • I have chosen Quix the Devious as my summoner since I am thinking of using Djinn Chwala as my main tank since only usable splinter is Fire, and I am thinking if he goes melee I can counter him with my tank, and the more he attacks my tank the more damage he would have because of the Thorn and Poison each round.

  • I am also thinking that if he uses Yodin Zaku at least I could decrease his range attack and hope that my monsters can withstand the remaining firepower and let the poison kill his monsters which is so possible since most fire range monsters has low health.

  • I also used the summoner so I can summon Chaos Dragon, no one is safe with Chaos Dragon since it will attack anyone randomly each round, and I would take that chance to take whatever backline support he has like Scavo Chemist that can Cleanse his tank.

  • Putting Scavo Chemist in the second position is kind of risky and a mistake, I don't know what I was thinking or maybe it was time pressure acting up. Well it still did work best for me since he has blast and imagine if I have put Tenyii Striker in there instead of Scavo, my Tenyii Striker will be getting unnecessary damage due to wrong placement.

  • I have also used Tenyii Striker to add more damage to the backline in case he is running a backline that can Heal itself like, Xenith Monk, Hydra, Cornealus, and Cerberus.

  • Those are the main reason I used Quix the Devious for this battle, and since Fire Splinter is available, I have used Forgotten One for that Immunity and put him in the back position so in case he got sneak this monster can decently withstand the attacks with his thick armor and also poison does not affect him, so in case all the monsters in the front dies, he will remain strong at the back, and before he reached the frontline, he is most probably in full health and has full armor, to wreck havoc to the enemy.

So far my game plan had worked and it was executed to my advantage, there might be some flaw but I think it did work well for me, than to the enemy. That is all for this battle and I hope you have learned and enjoy the battle. See you again next week!
