Life continues no matter what happens to you

There is this movie trailer that made so much noise on every social media platform months ago, the movie "Treasure in the Sky" was a blend of emotions; it talks about friendship, love, sacrifice, and pains.

I was baffled by how Clinton Joshua who played the character (Jidenna), in that movie, could hold it all in, how he was determined to enjoy his last few days on earth after being diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia; a rare condition that affects the bone marrow and blood. Jidenna never spoke about his medical condition instead he stayed happy and was determined to make others happy.

He found true friendship with Amina (Chinenye Nnebe) and genuine love with Kamsi; a lady everyone considered a weirdo because she was always keeping to herself and shying away from interacting with others, although she is very smart and beautiful, to say the least.

TREASURE IN THE SKY - CLINTON JOSHUA, CHINENYE NNEBE, MIWA OLORUNFEMI latest 2024 nigerian movie

Knowing that he didn't have so much time to live, Jidenna had a bucket list of the things he would like to achieve or experience before dying. Though, some of the wishes sounded weird they didn't have to make perfect sense to others except to the one who wanted his wishes to become true.

I realized soon after, that certain situations may disrupt our plans in life, sometimes life hits us so hard that we think it is impossible to move forward, but know this life isn't stationary, it only becomes stationary to the individual who breathes no more; for such person it is the end of life but the beginning of another elsewhere. To those living, life continues, moving ahead without waiting or pausing.

It may not be a matter of life and death like in the case of Jidenna but I should ask myself, what kind of attitude do I showcase in distressing moments? After Jidenna's death, each of his friends and classmates had something to hold onto; his impact on their lives was something that couldn't be traded for. For each one of them, he came through for, he was determined to solve their issues without holding back or being concerned about his challenges.

For me I think what Jidenna may have in mind was, "If I can't change the future, I can as well enjoy the present moment, feeling fulfilled and accomplished."

Sometimes in life, we cheat ourselves of so many privileges because we are so bothered about the future instead of making good use of the present. One thing we sometimes forget to understand is that no matter what happens, life will continue.

Another example of a man who understood that life isn't stationary or life choosing to stop for your sake is biblical Job (Job chapter 1:1-22). Job was a man of affluence, and wealth, and one who feared his creator. Life happened to him; he lost his children and livestock, and his health condition was tampered with, but amidst his miseries and misfortunes, he only wanted his existence to be wiped off, he was looking forward to a life free of pains, worries, and anxiety.

Somehow he knew his condition was temporal, if there was anything Job was sure of, amidst his tribulations and pains, he knew that life would continue to exist whether or not he was in it. His death wouldn't stop life at a standstill or stop others from living. There is just one thing that needs to be done in unpleasant situations, and that is If only we can face life with the right attitude then it would be much easier to offload the burdens of worries, anxiety, pain, and unhappiness. Knowing that nothing in life lasts forever, it's usually a passing phase, every stage comes and goes unlocking new challenges as we navigate through it.

Life can be unpleasant, ugly, or terrible. You might be experiencing a situation that affects your state of mind, health, and relationship with others. A situation where your existence or purpose in life becomes questionable. Life has many facets; the bad, the good, the sweet, the ugly and what have you. And it is very possible to experience each of these facets in life.

For the good and sweet aspects of life, it would only seem to us that it should never end but how about the bad and ugly? In the midst of the latter, what kind of attitude or mindset do I have towards it?

Let's allow words from Roy T. Bennett to sink into our hearts and make meaning to us. "Do not waste your time in anger, regrets, worries, and, grudges, life is too short to be unhappy ".

No matter what happens, learn to live a happy and fulfilled life.

Hello @iskafan. You are right when you say that our mindset and attitude affect every aspect of our lives. Life certainly isn't always nice and pleasant. Each of us undergo stress and pain at some point or encounter external and internal stressors that bring strife to our world.

I've always wondered how would I approach life if knowing I only had a certain amount of time on this Earth. The knowledge forces one to reassess ourselves.

Thanks for your summary and analysis of the film. An enjoyable read. Take care.

Amen to that! Life can definitely throw us some curveballs, but our mindset is key.

Well if I knew how much time I had left, I'd probably start ticking some big adventures off my bucket list and make the most of the time I have left

Thank you so much for visiting, ma'am
