Get Rich or Die Trying

I have a good feeling that you might already know 50 Cent's story and even though you did not, a few drops of gossip here and there would have found its way to your ears regardless of how old you were at the time. However, it doesn't matter if you knew his story or not, and I am sure Netflix did not care if I did too because they recommended his movie to me.

I did not want to see it because I remember I am yet to finish the book Robert Greene did on him and I don't like seeing a movie version of a book until I'm done reading. My imagination is often messed up when this happens but once I saw that it was an hour and a few minutes, I decided to give it a try.

I don't know which part of his life you are conversant with, but, I'm sorry, I might not share the movie with you as I often did in the past. I'll turn against you this time and offer you a scene that stood out to me.

A lot of people would take the motivational portions of this movie. When he couldn't tell who his dad was yet still had to look up to someone! When his mum died, he did not know who killed her, yet, still found himself, scavenging for that life! When he was framed and arrested to serve time! When he met with obstacles while trying to break away and become a rapper! Different scenarios would sit perfectly with people who are eager for a good story to stay motivated.

But with me, I am always looking for a financial lesson and not some sort of motivation. And watching 50 Cent roll around, building teams, selling dope, making rules, and watching people work against him, I needed a few lessons to hold onto before I could give Netflix any star for recommending that movie.

Did I find it? You can bet I did.

Now, when his mum died, when he was 12, he suddenly realized he would no longer be able to have the shiny stuff that his mum used to buy for him with the proceeds from selling drugs. His friends started mocking him in school, he would look at raised glasses of shoes in the store and wish he could get those. But 50 Cent did wait long like the rest of us would. He did not wait for manna to fall from heaven. He created his manna.

He soon saved and began to buy his own dope, resell, and make money. Once he realized enough to afford the shoe, he got one for himself. He did this when he was a teenager but as old habits die hard, he grew into it. This is because once he became an adult and was advanced in both experience, dealings, and product, he found himself staring down a beautiful Mercedes Benz in a dealer's shop.

The owner impressively told him to come back when he gets the money and has a license. I watched 50 Cent promise to return with the money, because he went back, hustled extra hard, saved up enough, and bought himself that car.

It was crazy how something he did as a child followed him all the way to adulthood but it was a good thing because I began to see Robert Kiyosaki plastered all around his financial character

50 Cent did not whine about his financial misfortune or suddenly blame his predicament on the fact that he lost his breadwinner and toy buyer. Nope! He took his financial matters into his hands at a young age.

Instead of sitting back and crying,"I can't afford it", he changed the narrative to, "How can I afford it?" And even the universe worked the magic of affirmation and turned financial situations in his favor, giving him a hardworking crew, loyal, and straight-to-making-the-dough kind of individuals. He sold to every Tom and Harry and got paid in whatever payment method his client had access to. He made sure every customer who came across him got satisfaction, and in return, he got paid.

Making money even though you are not planning to buy youthful or adult toys with it doesn't mean you need to neglect the fundamental theorem and forces that govern it. When you are faced with a problem, and you ask positive questions, your mind tends to open up all the possibilities that are available to you to gain an advantage over your financial situation. But the moment, you resolve negatively that you can't afford it, your brain shrinks into a poverty mindset and everything else works against you.

Learn from 50 Cent, and never allow obstacles to stand in the way of having your financial dreams come true.

we humans tend to look down on our own ability and that is why many people are stagnant, we can achieve more than we imagine if only we try and put in the effort required
