Stop by and Relax at Sentang Beach - Serdang Bedagai North Sumatra

Hello everyone and all members of the community, how are you friends today? I hope and pray that all of us are always given health and happiness in carrying out this work and life. A few days ago, or about two weeks ago, my wife and I went to one of the beaches in Serdang Bedagai Regency – North Sumatra.

Location and Access to the Beach
My wife and I went to Sentang Beach in the afternoon. We came to this beach after attending a wedding invitation from my neighbor's sister. Sentang Beach is one of the coastal tourist areas in North Sumatra Province - Indonesia. Administratively, Sentang Beach is located in Sentang Village, Teluk Mengkudu District - Serdang Bedagai.

To be able to reach this beach, we can use private vehicles such as cars or motorbikes. From Medan City (the city where I live) to Sentang Beach it takes at least an hour and a half trip, if using the toll road we can arrive at the beach in just one hour. The road access to the sentang beach is very good, but one kilometer before reaching the beach there is a dirt road that is slightly potholed.

Before we can enter the beach, we have to pay a retribution fee of around IDR 10K (or about 1.3 USD). Sentang Beach is still managed independently by the community and is still not professional. I came to Sentang Beach at 3 pm. The afternoon is the right time to relax on the beach, the afternoon atmosphere is not too hot and the beach wind blows very hard.

Enjoy the view of the beach

When I go to the beach, I am the type of person who just sits looking at the sea, the pounding of the walls and the breeze. Therefore, I only want to go to the beach in the afternoon when the weather is not too hot. Sentang Beach has a beautiful view but is not managed professionally. When I arrived, the condition of the beach had just hit the tide and it made the sea water a little cloudy and brown in color.

Usually, visitors to this beach will take advantage of the natural beach scenery. This is because, there are no photo facilities or decorations. However, if you want something unique, you can take pictures on a shipwreck that was stranded on the beach. Before becoming a tourist beach, Sentang Beach was a place for fishermen to find fish, residents around the coast worked as fishermen and we can see several shipwrecks here.

Playing at the beach
The atmosphere of the beach was very crowded at that time, many of the visitors were dominated by families and couples who came to this beach. Sentang Beach has a coastline of about 2 km with white sand that spoils the eye. The stretch of white sand from this beach is very suitable as a place for children to play. Susana beach is also clean and makes us free to let our children go on sentang beach. In addition, many people who picnic on this beach use mats. We can rent mats to the beach manager or we can bring our own mats from home. Gathering and exchanging stories with family on the beach is a very fun family activity.

Besides being able to picnic on the beach, we also swim at this beach. Sentang Beach is very suitable for children to enjoy swimming because the water is not too high and the beach waves are not too big. Even though the water conditions were cloudy, it didn't stop the visitors from playing and swimming on the beach.

There are a lot of food and drinks sold on this beach, if you want to have lunch, you can order grilled seafood which is very delicious. Seafood such as fish, prawns and crabs come directly from local fishermen and are very fresh of course.

My Opinion

In Indonesia, there are many choices of beaches that are prettier and more beautiful than this beach. However, these beautiful beaches are very far from where I live. However, sentang beach is suitable for me or anyone who needs a place to clear their mind can come to this beach. Sentang Beach may not be the best beach destination, but sometimes we need to go to the beach to clear our minds.
