Hay quienes tienen el prejuicio de pensar que los otros nada tienen que ofrecer, consideran que es tiempo perdido el escuchar a los demás, esto sin duda que es un gran error.

Ser tan presumidos como para pensar que ya lo sabemos todo nos ubica claramente fuera de la realidad. Es un error creer que el conocimiento tiene límites y que por haber participado en unas cuantas charlas, haber leído algunos artículos de internet, o tener algunos títulos, ya sabemos todo lo necesario y no nos hace falta más.

La gran verdad es que cada día se amplían notablemente las fronteras de lo conocido. Si nos cerramos seguramente que perderemos la oportunidad de conocer algo nuevo. Por eso es importante estar pendientes de no caer en el error de pensar que toda opinión ajena esconde una crítica negativa. A veces le damos mucho crédito a esa conseja popular que declara que “nadie quiere ojos bonitos en cara ajena”.

Pero aún en el caso en que las opiniones vengan formuladas en tono de críticas siempre habrá la posibilidad de que nos puedan ser útiles de muchas maneras.

Lo primero a tomar en consideración es que no somos infalibles, cada uno de nosotros puede cometer errores, en cualquier momento y sin darnos cuenta de ello, sin estar conscientes.

A las personas nos resulta muy fácil caer en sesgos cognitivos que nos nublen el entendimiento y nos impidan saber que erramos el camino. Aunque les parezca extraño esto puede ser más común de lo que podemos imaginar.

Tomarnos el tiempo para evaluar cualquier comentario, así lo consideremos crítico, puede ser el primer paso para iluminar un área que no habíamos visto con claridad. Esos comentarios, que en principio puedan resultar hasta mal intencionados, pueden ser la clave para enmendar una decisión errónea. Por eso es importante no cerrar nuestros oídos a las cosas que vengan de fuera.

Entonces, una actitud muy sabia a cultivar puede ser también solicitar consejos. Si pensamos establecer algún emprendimiento en un sitio nuevo, desconocido para nosotros, lo prudente y conveniente sería solicitar opiniones de las personas que conozcan el sitio.
