IF you were to have asked me, where would STEEM be in 2023, I would have said "At LEAST $15" and every post is earning hundreds of dollars worth of crypto. Of course here we are and STEEM is a little over a dime and HIVE is a little over a quarter.

Well here we are. I'm not posting this on STEEMIT at all, the community of Steemit is here on HIVE and it's but a misty memory for most people here, or no memory at all.

But this magnificent coin from 2017 still exists, and it calls to mind many memories of the early days of the HIVE blockchain.

Just for clairity if anyone is wondering, HIVE is a "fork" of the STEEM blockchain. Once the fork happened, even though the entire blogging and gaming history of STEEM was incorporated into the "history" of HIVE, it was still Steem at the time. HIVE has become something very different, with many improvements and much more interaction, but I don't think it's fair to spurn the old STEEM blockchain.

It's not the same as it used to be, which is why we post here on HIVE.

There have been multiple years of STEEM silver rounds. This is the first, the original, and in my opinion the best design. The reverse shows a collection of minnows growing up to be dolphins and orcas and even one whale floating around.

The word "community" is written in Spanish, French and Filipino. It's proof finish shines in the STEEM logo in the center. At the bottom is the date, 2017. The year I joined the blockchain.

The obverse is simple, just the STEEM logo, the word "STEEM" and a description of the silver content. Because it is minted in Canada, it is written in English and French "FINE SILVER 1OZ ARGENT PUR"
