The death dilemma
Your country is at war and you're captured. The enemy tells you to execute one of your compatriots for spying or they will execute you immediately. What do you do and why?
I think that many times we take our way of acting in imaginary circumstances for granted, without really knowing what our true reaction would be. I have been in danger of death very few times, one of these was when I was the victim of a robbery and they were targeting us. with guns while we were lying on the ground without looking at their faces, I acted calm and relaxed on that occasion, my feelings of sadness or frustration woke up the next day when I saw my mother and also when I realized that I needed the things that I had been robbed to continue studying, therefore I don't know if in a scenario like the one proposed I would act calmly as on that occasion where my state was one of total indifference while I was being threatened with the weapon.
I am clear that the only way I would be able to kill a human being is in self-defense, that is, if I could kill I would kill the person who has me directly captured, if that is not possible then I could not kill someone more only because my captor proposes it as a requirement to preserve my life, also in a war scenario the enemy considers me his enemy just because I belong to the opposite country, that is, there is no personal reason, my life does not matter to those people, that means that there is no way for the enemy to offer me a deal that they comply with and there is no way for me to accept, because neither my captors are going to trust me nor I am going to trust their word, that is , it would be very stupid to think that the enemy proposes a deal to a person who is at a disadvantage knowing that I can easily fail in any mission, they instead of directly dealing with the murder of the spy propose that deal just because it amuses them to see others do the dirty work and also innocently believe their words. So I wouldn't agree to kill another and would only accept my death hoping it would be quick.
