Hagamos una rica Torta Quesillo / Let's make a delicious Quesillo Cake
Hi friends! Today I bring you a recipe that I have wanted to make for a long time but had not dared, perhaps because the preparation seemed somewhat complicated, but I did it and the truth was not as difficult as I thought and also the result was excellent. It's the Quesillo Cake, well known here in Venezuela.
Para los que no lo conocen, el Quesillo es un postre muy sabroso, infaltable en los cumpleaños aquí, es como una especie de flan, y esta receta combina un bizcocho básico con Quesillo.
For those who don't know it, the Quesillo is a very tasty dessert, a must on birthdays here, it's like a kind of flan, and this recipe combines a basic sponge cake with Quesillo.
Bueno, veamos los ingredientes:

Para el Quesillo
- 1 lata de leche condensada
- 4 huevos
- 1 cucharada de esencia de vainilla
- 1/2 taza de azúcar
For the Quesillo
- 1 can of condensed milk
- 4 eggs
- 1 tablespoon of vanilla essence
- 1/2 cup of sugar
Para el bizcocho
- 1 taza de azúcar
- 3/4 de taza de harina de trigo leudante
- 1/4 de taza de maicena
- 4 huevos
- 1 cucharadita de polvo de hornear
- 1 cucharadita de ralladura de limón
- Una pizca de sal
For the cake
- 1 cup of sugar
- 3/4 of cup of self-rising wheat flour
- 1/4 of cup of cornstarch
- 4 eggs
- 1 teaspoon of baking powder
- 1 teaspoon lemon zest
- a pinch of salt
Preparación / Preparation
Lo primero que vamos a hacer es preparar el Quesillo, para eso colocamos la 1/2 taza de azúcar en el molde de horno que vamos a usar y lo ponemos en una hornilla a fuego bajo hasta que se forme el caramelo.
The first thing we are going to do is prepare the Quesillo, for that we place the 1/2 cup of sugar in the baking mold that we are going to use and put it on a stove over low heat until the caramel forms.
Una vez que el caramelo esté listo, retiramos el molde de la hornilla y movemos para que el caramelo cubra bien todo el fondo y un poco los lados.
Once the caramel is ready, remove the mold from the burner and move so that the caramel covers the entire bottom and a little the sides.
Ahora procedemos a hacer la mezcla del Quesillo, para eso batimos la leche condensada con los huevos y la esencia de vainilla hasta que quede homogénea.
Now we proceed to make the Quesillo mixture, for that we beat the condensed milk with the eggs and the vanilla essence until it is homogeneous.
Reservamos esta mezcla y vamos ahora a hacer el bizcocho para completar esta Torta Quesillo.
We reserve this mixture and now we are going to make the cake to complete this Quesillo Cake.
Primero tomamos los huevos, separamos las claras de las yemas y batimos las claras hasta punto de nieve, es decir, hasta que queden como una espuma densa y muy firme.
First we take the eggs, separate the whites from the yolks and beat the whites until stiff, that is, until they are like a dense and very firm foam.
Seguidamente batimos las yemas hasta que la mezcla se ponga esponjosa y le añadimos poco a poco el azúcar y la ralladura de limón.
Then we beat the yolks until the mixture becomes fluffy and we add the sugar and the lemon zest little by little.
Batimos constantemente hasta que todo quede bien unido.
We beat constantly until everything is well united.
Agregamos ahora a esta mezcla la harina previamente cernida junto a la maicena, la sal y el polvo de hornear. Esto lo hacemos alternando con las claras de huevo batidas y usando una cuchara de madera, con la que vamos revolviendo poco a poco hasta conseguir que todos los ingredientes se unan muy bien.
Now we add to this mixture the previously sifted flour together with the cornstarch, salt and baking powder. We do this by alternating with the beaten egg whites and using a wooden spoon, with which we are stirring little by little until all the ingredients come together very well.
Muy bien, ahora ya tenemos todo listo para armar nuestra Torta Quesillo. Primero vamos a verter sobre el caramelo la mezcla que hicimos de la leche condensada, los huevos y la esencia de vainilla, es decir la mezcla de lo que será el Quesillo.
Very good, now we have everything ready to assemble our Quesillo Cake. First we are going to pour over the caramel the mixture that we made of the condensed milk, the eggs and the vanilla essence, that is, the mixture of what will be the Quesillo.
Y seguidamente sobre el Quesillo, echamos la mezcla que preparamos del bizcocho.
And then on the Quesillo, we add the mixture that we prepare from the sponge cake.
Luego debemos colocar el molde en baño de María y lo ponemos en el horno a una temperatura de º180 por más o menos una hora o hasta que al introducir un cuchillo salga seco.
Then we must place the mold in a water bath and put it in the oven at a temperature of º180 for about an hour or until when inserting a knife it comes out dry.
Al sacar nuestra torta del horno la dejamos reposar unos 5 minutos, la desmoldamos y dejamos que se enfríe. Después la metemos en la nevera.
When we take our cake out of the oven, we let it rest for about 5 minutes, we unmold it and let it cool down. Then we put it in the fridge.
Miren qué bella queda y cómo se ven los diferentes pasos que hicimos: el caramelo, el Quesillo y abajo el bizcocho, y más importante aún, el sabor, de verdad amigos ¡deliciosa!
