Foul Mouth, Foul Life. - Opinion of a hypocrite

Beep ... Beep ... Beeeeeeeeep.
No that's not morse code, it was the dialogue from the main character of a web series. it got me wondering what they are trying to achieve. I don't know any real people who use profanity to that extent. The scene was supposed to express the disappointment of the main character. But instead, the guy transformed into a bargain rap god with a foul mouth. The only thing I can understand is the creators were trying to bring in the reality factor to the TV series. But in an attempt to be more real, they drifted far away. Now in real life, Let me correct myself a bit, In my real life, I am yet to meet a person who uses profanity like how Fastfood joints use MSG (Ajinomoto) in their dishes. Unfair comparison but I couldn’t think of a better analogy.

What hurt me most is that recently I had seen a video where a guy was trying to justify the profanity, saying it is not a cuss word it is more or less like an endearing way of greeting. I am not sure about others but I don't think I would like that kind of greeting. Something similar happened a few days ago when I was interacting with a senior member of the client's team. We were discussing something critical and while addressing another person on the call used 3-4 cuss words very casually. And the person at the receiving end was laughing at the lame joke, he was forced upon us. The use of the cuss word like a full stop to the sentence by a senior manager caught me off, guard. Not only it made me a little uncomfortable, but my opinion about him also changed a bit too. One more thing that the conversation had been wondering about was the level of comfort of both the gentlemen (I am still going to address them as gentlemen even though they had sewer for the mouth.) It was like the cuss words were natural and subconscious in nature. As if that's how they speak among themselves and it is part of their culture. And I don't think that profanity is a part of their culture. It shouldn't be a part of any culture. I used to be a shit-talking idiot but I grew out of it to be just an Idiot.

Let's move to the hypocrisy part. I use profanity too. But when I am writing characters to make them believable and real. And I use profanity in my review as a comic way of expressing my anger. But suddenly when someone else does it, It feels ugly. I am talking about a comic, who was performing a standup comedy show and the level of profanity was too much, but the audience seems to be enjoying it or that could be the laugh tracks inserted by the editor. But still, I wasn’t having fun.

However, this is my personal feeling that when someone is addressing a large crowd it is the responsibility of the speaker to keep the speech clear and clean. Showing emotions is fine but just saying cuss words out of habit is not a healthy way of life or things. Again this is completely my personal opinion and I know you may be not agreed with me. But my fear is, in the crowd, there will be at least one idiot who thinks of the speaker as an Idol and would try and adopt this otherwise ugly trait.

What I will Do?
Well, I will continue with my hypocrisy. While preaching to the world that profanity is not a good thing, I will use it in my review, my stories, and my blog. Because profanity is something that everyone uses, some use it to express extreme dissatisfaction, anger, and range of emotions and some use it just because. And how much profanity is too much profanity? Is something that differs from person to person. What I believe is a foul mouth contributes to foul life.

I think you trained yourself not to be disturbed by others or let others get emotions Outta you..

You are like a monk.

Haha, I sure try to but it's easier when it's an inanimate object ( that hurts me ) than a human being. Also, being a Hypersensitivosaurus , I pretty much need to shield myself/ be mindful or I would be overwhelmed and burntout non-stop ;>)

That philosophy of burn out is applicable to humans too and not exclusive to raptors.

Being angry at something or someone exhausts the person much faster. This is something that I experienced, people call it mood but I have a different take on the subject.

Maybe I should write about it and find my own hypersensitive side. 😉

True that, anger makes us tired. The same goes for a lot of other so called lower emotions. Those that don't make us feel good.

Curious about your hypersensitive side. I'm sure you've got one ;<)

I do have a hypersensitive side. Tend to keep that hidden in the pretext of saving it from the outside world.

I knew you had one.
Perhaps I can set the example to get over that.
