For a better lifestyle

There is one popular and famous proverb, and it's "Early to bed, early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise." I am confident that you must have heard the proverb and that you also understand its meaning. I am not going to explain it, as you can understand, but how many of us actually follow the instructions in the proverb. I think very few of us take the message from the proverb and follow it unless we are forced to.

Again, we know very well that health is wealth. Nothing can be more important than health, because without it, no one can be happy. Proper sleeping at the proper time is one of the requirements for being healthy.

The current world is known as the digital world. In this digital world, everyone is busy with smartphones, computers, and other technological devices. All the technological devices are so additive that people use them almost all the day, even in the time of sleeping. Most of the technological devices are unfriendly for sleeping, or those reduce the timing of sleep. Forget about others, and let's talk about myself. Which one do I belong to? Am I the early bird or night owl?

It's kind of complicated to answer at the current time because the current situation is not perfect to answer the question, which means the timing is not suitable to answer the question. I am going to share my experience with it, which may help you understand it better.

From my earlier reach, I chose to be a night owl. Maybe I got the habit from my mother, and it was because my mother used to read books at night. She used to lose herself in the book while reading. As a kid, I haven't seen anyone who is addicted to reading. I am the one who didn't go to sleep unless my mother went to sleep. She scolded me many times for not going to sleep early, but the night owl characteristics I got from my mother genetically (maybe). As I started to grow, my study pressure increased from time to time. As a night owl, I became the same as my mother in that case, and I used to do my studies until late at night. especially in the 10th standard, I became more serious about my study.

Most people say the morning is the best time for studying because, at that time, our minds and weather both remain fresh, which is helpful for studying. I had the tendency to go against what people say and believe, and I didn't accept the facts. Because I always preferred to complete my studies first and then go to sleep. Waking up late wasn't a problem because I had done my study late at night. Nobody used to complain except my grandmother about such a lifestyle because I was successful in my academic career. In that time, I was kind of robot and a robot can work anytime; it doesn't matter if it's late at night or in the daytime, and I used to calculate situations mathematically.

In my 12th grade, I was totally a human robot, and I stopped sleeping at night because I used to think 6 hours of sleep was too much. I decided to sleep from 9.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m. each day. I allowed myself 5 hours only each day, and I continued it for 6 months until I finished my 12th standard exam. All the remaining time, I used to do my study on my table, except for taking food and going to the washroom. Six months were spent like that, which was not so easy, but my dedication to my study made it possible. There were some other factors that influenced the thing. The first was that I was trying to push myself beyond my boundaries. Secondly, the HSC exam was very important for my career. Thirdly, I noticed that in the deep night, my brain used to work faster and I could capture my lesson easily. And the last one is that I was trying to do something exceptional and tried to prove I don't care about the rules or what people say. I must say that it was beneficial for my study, and I never regret doing such a thing. In fact, I feel proud of it and proved that a human can do anything if they are determined, no matter what others say. Moreover, it gives me confidence that I can do anything if I become determined. I hope you can understand why I called myself a robot in some of my posts.

As a result, I got the opportunity to take admission to many of the top universities in my country, and I chose to select the one that was close to me. And my family never wanted me to go far from home, as I had options. In university, I became more mature, and I started to do my lessons smartly, which reduced the study pressure a lot. So it was not necessary for me to be a night owl in my university life, but changing the habit was not so easy. I could sleep easily if I wanted, but I rarely chose to go to sleep early. I used to sleep at 5:00 a.m. in my university life, and I wasted that time on nothing special or productive. After 4-5 years of trying, I reduced the time below 3 a.m., and it's still considered to be a night owl.

I thought deeply about it, and I realized that I needed to go to university early in the in the morning and go to sleep late at night, which is not good practice. I knew it didn't create an impact in a short time, but in the long term, it was damaging my health. So I decided to go to sleep before 12.30 a.m. and woke up between 7.30 and 8.00 a.m. I took the plan seriously, and I started to follow it the next day. It doesn't matter if I need to go to university or not. I used to follow that routine, and it was a good plan for me from the perspective of health. I followed the plan for more than 2 months. Even my exam didn't disrupt the routine because I used to shift my night work in the early morning. So I became an early bird. Unfortunately, last month was the month of Ramadan, and a lot of pressure from exams, practicals, research papers, and shopping disrupted the plan. So I became a night owl for a month again, and I am still a night owl.

But I know it's not a healthy practice, and I still prefer to be an early bird. So I will be an early bird again after returning to town and ending the Eid celebration. I am sure I will be an early bird because I have enough confidence in myself to keep my promises.

I also didn’t like studying at night because no matter how hard I tried, I would always just not be able to stay fully awake so I was studying at night

I see you all that can study at night with some super powers, lol

Not super powers🤣. !LOL
I was just dedicated. By the way, I believe each human are different and my techniques may not work for others and I don't recommend anyone to follow me because it may bring negative consequences.

Health is really wealth and one of the easiest way to be healthy is always a goodnight rest. It’s really sad that people just underrate it.

There were very few times when I tried to be a night owl but I must admit that struggle was so hard. I think the morning works better for me. Cause like you said, my thoughts are clear and I’m able to stay focused

Every human are different. For me starting in the night time was the best decision in my opinion but I think it's not a good decision for most of people. Moreover, it depends on mindset. Waking up early is a very good habit and now I also prefer it.
