God's Heart for mission on earth: Discovery your mission
Hello friends, today I want to share with you way s to discover the mission or what could be addressed as purpose.
2 Peter 3:9 “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise as some men count slackness, but is long suffering to us ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

God made his mission on earth very clear even before man's creation, that's the original commission that God gave man was to be the carrier of his image – the life and light to subdue the darkness that engulfed the earth. Now the basis for God’s missions today is not different from that of Genesis 1:26 - 28. It has been over two thousand years now since the Lord Jesus commanded his church (followers) to go into all the world and make disciples of all nations. Statistically, the two third of the world’s population are still not followers of Christ, and hundreds of millions of people have not heard the good news (the gospel) about the Lord Jesus and experienced salvation. At the same time, many christians and congregation remain preoccupied with their own lives, their own needs and their own agendas and are not engaged in the task of making Christ known to the rest of the world. Clearly that needs to change! Rather than waiting for people who don’t know Christ to come to us, we need to go to them. Taking the light of the gospel to places where darkness still rules and reigns is still God’s commission for the Church and new creation man. And this is what Mission is all about. God the father and Lord Jesus have commanded us to go. (Jonah 1:1-2, Matthew 28:19-20).
What then is God’s Heart and what is Mission?
The Heart of God is the essence of who God is, what He desires, His will and purposes. The Bible mentions the heart almost 1000 times. In essence, this is what it says, the heart is the spiritual part of us where our emotions and desires dwell. Since God has emotions and desires as well, He too can be said to have a ‘heart’.
What is Mission?
Mission is God at work through men and His Church to fulfil His eternal purpose on the earth (Ephesians 1:9-10, Genesis 12:1-3, Jonah 1:1-2, Galatians 3:16-19, 2 Peter 3:9, Revelations 7:9)
Mission is fulfilling the great commission (Matthew 28:18-20, Mark 16:15-20). Mission is reaching the unreached nations of the earth (Romans 10:13-15, 15:20). The mission of God (Genesis 3:9, Jonah 1:1-3, John 4:36). Our God is a Missionary God. Daniel and his three Hebrew friends were sent on God’s Mission to the heathen nations (Daniel 1:3 15;17-21;2:16-26;44-47;3:16-30;6:1-8). The lord Jesus Christ is our pattern missionary (Philippians 2:5-11, john 1:4, Mathew 3:12-7, Mathew 4:13-16, john 1:6-12.
Jesus showed us an example first as the word became flesh and dwelt amidst us (John 1:14). He took upon himself the form of man and came to the earth as a full time resident missionary. A he was starting his ministry no earth, he showed us a pattern of practical missions. He left his Nazareth of convenience and came and dwelt where thick darkness has hitherto made its abode (Mathew 4:1-3). For him, mission is not a question of a weekend outreach, but a-going-to-dwell. What lesson can we learn, looking at our own approach today (john 17:18-21; 20:21-23, John 1:6-12
The conversation of Paul on the way of Damascus was for the purpose of God‘s mission for the gentiles nation (Acts 13:1-4; 44-48)

- The Bible is a missionary book (Genesis 3:9; 12:1-3, Exodus3:4-10, 1 Kings 17:1; 18:36-39, Jonah 1:1; 3:1-2, Revelations 7:9-10, Matthew 28:18-20, John 21:21).
- The church was built to become a missionary community (Mark 16:15-20, Acts 1:8, John 4:53).
- The heart of God for mission is definite attempt to take the gospel from place where it has been preached, believed and establishment to another pace where it is either yet to be preached sufficiently, so as to provoke adequate response that will lead to the establishment of an indigenous community of believers (Acts 13:2-5; 8:5-8).
Therefore, in giving the great commission, the Lord made it clear how it was to be done. Those who obey the commission are to be itinerate rather than stationary. As we already seen, it is the role of the church to influence the world into the Kingdom of God. To do this, we as the church with the mandate of “Making Christ Known” have to go. If this principle was exhibited by the Lord Jesus Himself, we His followers have no option but to do as he did.
