Our choices and how we deal with them.
Photograph taken with my Tecno camon 18p mobile phone.
Today is the first time I write in this beautiful community full of reflections, personal experiences and affirmations that make us realise that in a world so wide and full of so much universality, there are certainly aspects in common, since we all wish in one way or another to see the good in what surrounds us.
I still remember the day I decided to become a vegetarian and my mother panicked, she took me to a doctor who was her friend and when I told her the reason for the consultation, Dr. Solo gave her a laugh and said imagine if you do not want to eat meat, there is nothing wrong with that, even I am trying to stop eating red meat, my recommendation is simply to replace it with other proteins. It was at that moment that, at the tender age of 15, I understood that there are alternatives for everything and that my decision was not made for no reason, it was simply my choice and no one should feel affected.
Many times we want to achieve things and we do everything in our power to achieve the goals we have set for ourselves, but when the time comes, we may find it difficult to achieve them, so we enter into a state of frustration and guilt that we simply do not deserve. So it is good to accept that there are many paths we can take that help us to look at all kinds of perspectives.

Today I am moved by a deep sense of gratitude with life and with the circumstances I have had to live through, until I reach the point where I am now, and I can say with certainty that everything I have experienced has brought me to where I am. If we reflect on the number of times we complain and feel depressed about the things we experience on a daily basis, we will realise that little by little we are becoming robotic beings, driven by an imperative need to fulfil expectations that others have created and sown in us.
So we must ask ourselves, are we really doing what we want to do, or simply what others expect of us? A few years ago I used to live like that, pleasing everyone around me, my parents, siblings, friends, partner and I put myself aside, my desires and everything I longed for was always behind what they wanted. In a way, I felt like a spectator of my own life, I didn’t do anything that contravened the rule so to speak and I lived according to the desires or the idea of what I should be that others had.
Obviously, you can’t keep constant pressure on your back and not resent this in some way, so I started to suffer from anxiety and depression, at some point I never felt enough, I was always underestimating myself and undermining my own identity. However, one day I came across a philosophy of life called Krishna Consciousness, which helped me realise that not everything we do should be driven by a desire to please others, but rather to understand that everything in this life is temporary and illusory.

So we must ask ourselves in a formal way, what kind of relationship with others we want to cultivate, I started by seeing my own desires as something worth listening to, to feel my inner voice calling me and shaping my actions, because even if we try a thousand times to please others it is exhausting. So, I began to prioritise everything that generated me some kind of happiness and a kind of inner peace manifested itself, in which there was no room for what people would say or for the unconsciously pointing out that people do.
I understood that I am much happier following my own emotions and allowing myself that capacity of decision that each one of us has, to exercise freedom and free will. This is how I started to give life to my essence after so many years, because through reason I constantly managed, but I never listened to my heart who knew that the right thing to do was to allow myself a turning point.
Time and the way we conceive reality always go hand in hand with our personal aspirations, so it is good to listen to ourselves and know what we really want. In this way, I would like to share with you some keys that helped me at the precise moment when I wanted to achieve many things, but could not achieve them, and I still apply them today, when I am in a slump.

Your choices belong to you.
Be yourself.
The emotional independence that comes from accepting our own internal process, our identity and how we lead our lives is liberating, because we are not pretending, but showing our way of being at every step. Don’t allow anyone to modify you, the essence is something that makes us unique.
Nothing is personal.
Let’s not take things so personal, many times we feel that everything that others say has to do with us or that they are singling us out and judging us for a certain situation, when in reality there are people who speak in a general way and many times they are even reckless without meaning to be.
Live with the desire to be happy.
Allow yourself to smile in the morning, even on sad days, when you wake up, see what is around you and feel the sun on your cheeks from time to time, do not lose heart in the face of adversity and see it as an opportunity to learn.
Reset yourself as a defence mechanism.
Do not dwell on negative experiences, reliving them over and over again, as this will only affect your own emotional stability and create disturbances. On the contrary, try to reset yourselves, i.e. to understand that what we suffered or lived through was in the past, to learn to live in the here and now, to live Carpe Diem.
Live to the full.
We want to live, but we almost never do because we are constantly beaten down by worries and situations that we cannot handle, but it is time to stop obsessing about the results and focus on enjoying the magic of existing.
