What a good way to start the year: I am buying my first bicycle 🚲
Growing up there are many things I wanted my parents to buy for me, now when I remember some of them I just laugh at myself. Some of them are pretty ridiculous and funny. I remember asking my dad to buy me a rocket. Well I wanted to travel to space,so I needed my personal rocket. I still remember the laughter that filled the room.
One of the things I wanted was a bicycle. I loved bicycles as a kid. I would run after anyone I saw riding a bicycle. I remember crying on my 12th birthday because Dad did not buy me the bicycle he had promised. He later explained to me that it was not safe for me to ride a bicycle, as our house was just by the road. Even with this I always followed some of my friends who had bicycles to go and learn how to ride it. I have now realized that what my dad did was for me own safety.
I would be getting my first bicycle on Monday and I am so excited about it. It would be a dream come true. Though this desire of mine took years to come to realization but I am happy that I will have my own bicycle. Well I have not figured out the type of bicycle I'm going to get.
You might want to ask me, why do you need a bicycle? well there are many reasons but I will just mention a few of them.
Firstly, I am someone who is always busy because of my kind of job and don't really have time to exercise. So getting a bicycle would help me to be physically fit. We all know the importance of physical fitness and living a healthy life. At least I know riding a bicycle has a lot of health benefits and it will be so beneficial to me.
Secondly, the price of petrol is very high and this has made the fare of public transportation to be on a high side. Getting a bicycle would help me to cut some cost. The money I would have used in buying petrol or even paying for transportation fare I will use it for other things. And i know it is a good economic decision to buy a bicycle.
Thirdly, I feel that climate change has become a very delicate issue in the world. We are currently experiencing some strange and confusing weather conditions all over the world. Getting a bicycle is my own little contribution to saving our planet as I might not be able to plant thousands of trees. The depletion of the ozone layer is not a joke. Gas from our cars and other industrial machines is hurting the earth. I strongly believe that as human beings we have to be more responsible with the way we treat our environment and remember that we have only one earth. It is time for us to save the earth. Let us try and reduce the number of car on our roads. Lets us save the earth.
I am super excited about getting a bicycle but I am having a problem of choice. I don't really know the type of bicycle I should go for. I won't mind having some suggestions. It's nice to be in this community.
Welcome to the cycling community.
How nice you are getting your first bicycle. Do you already know how to ride one or do you have to learn it first?
It really depends. If you want to a bicycle to excercise, take a light one. If you're using it for commuting, make sure you have a more solid one and you have a luggage carrier. If you have a lot of rough terrain, choose a mountain bike or other bicycle with thicker tires and maybe even suspension.
You can go many ways, but it really depends on how you are planning to use it.

The last time I ride a bicycle was at my 15th years. But can't I buy and use for different purpose?
