"No sé qué hacer con mi vida"

Una frase que le he escuchado a más de un amigo o he visto mucho por internet, al principio pensé que sólo cuando éramos jóvenes teníamos éstas dudas, que ya de adulto serían resueltas, creo que todos de pequeños imaginamos algo parecido, de hecho, yo solía pensar que los adultos ya tenían sus vidas resueltas y siempre sabían lo que tenían que hacer, la verdad cuando creces te das cuenta que la vida es un constante aprendizaje, un camino lleno de decisiones que tomar, unas más fáciles que otras y unas que nos hacen dudar de si hemos escogido bien o mal.

I do not know what to do with my life, a phrase that I have heard more than one friend or I have seen a lot on the internet, at first I thought that only when we were young we had these doubts, that as adults would be resolved, I think we all imagine something similar as children, in fact, I used to think that adults already had their lives solved and always knew what they had to do, the truth when you grow up you realize that life is a constant learning, a path full of decisions to make, some easier than others and some that make us doubt whether we have chosen right or wrong.

Una de las razones por las que escuchamos mas a jóvenes planteándose éste tipo de preguntas más que a los adultos, es por una presión social, se ha creado la falsa idea de que ya pasada una edad debes tener tu vida resuelta y actuar de una forma determinada; pero no veo el porqué debería ser así, nadie lo sabe todo en esta vida y siempre estamos de una forma u otra, aprendiendo, la mayoría tomamos malas decisiones de jóvenes que luego de adultos queremos cambiarlas, y tenemos todo nuestro derecho de hacerlo, no todo el mundo tiene que tener una carrera profesional antes de los treinta años, no, cada quien a su tiempo, y hay quienes no desean tener una carrera tradicional y eso también debemos respetarlo.

One of the reasons why we hear more young people asking this kind of questions than adults, is because of social pressure, it has created the false idea that after a certain age you should have your life solved and act in a certain way; But I do not see why it should be like that, nobody knows everything in this life and we are always in one way or another, learning, most of us made bad decisions when we were young and then as adults we want to change them, and we have every right to do so, not everyone has to have a professional career before the age of thirty, no, everyone in their own time, and there are those who do not want to have a traditional career and we must also respect that.

Con la presión de que luego de terminar la secundaria hay que irse a la universidad y así uno se gradúa lo más joven posible y consigue un trabajo y todo lo demás, no se le da tiempo a los jóvenes de reflexionar sobre lo que realmente quieren para sus vidas, usualmente escogemos una carrera que nos dé estabilidad económica y la mayoría escoge algo que no le gusta pero que les producirá dinero, por lo que muchos a mitad de carrera, despiertan un día, se dan cuenta que la verdad eso no les gusta, y dejan de estudiar, mientras otros, por la presión o por el dinero que se invirtió en la universidad, deciden terminarla y luego consiguen un trabajo en donde hacen algo que no les gusta, lo cual puede conllevar a una vida infeliz y en los peores casos, a una depresión.

With the pressure that after finishing high school you have to go to college so you graduate as young as possible and get a job and everything ​else, young people are not given time to reflect on what they really want for their lives, usually we choose a career that gives us economic stability and most choose something they do not like but that will produce money, So many mid-career, wake up one day, realize that they really do not like it, and stop studying, while others, under pressure or because of the money invested in college, decide to finish it and then get a job where they do something they do not like, which can lead to an unhappy life and in the worst cases, to depression.

Creo fielmente que muy dentro de nosotros sí sabemos qué queremos hacer con nuestra vida, sí sabemos lo que nos gusta, pero en muchos casos por falta de dinero, apoyo familiar o necesidades de índole mayor no nos podemos dedicar a lo que queremos, o también tenemos miedo de no ser perfectos en eso que nos gusta, de no ser los mejores y fracasar durante el proceso.

I truly believe that deep inside us we do know what we want to do with our lives, we do know what we like, but in many cases due to lack of money, family support or major needs we cannot dedicate ourselves to what we want, or we are also afraid of not being perfect in what we like, of not being the best and failing in the process.

Así que las siguientes palabras son para todos nosotros los que nos hemos sentido en esta cuerda floja de “no saber lo que queremos para nuestra vida” y de tener miedo al riesgo (lo cual es completamente normal), vamos a atrevernos un poco más, si contamos con la suerte de tener salud y apoyo, si la verdad podemos darnos el lujo de emprender un camino que queremos, hagámoslo, siendo conscientes de que nos tropezaremos muchas veces y de que nos costará llegar a lo que imaginamos, pero con trabajo duro y constancia, podremos lograrlo.
