A Day in Vicenza
Hello friends of this splendid community,
Sunday was one of those days when I decided to leave behind the hustle and bustle of Milan because I had the desire to travel and discover new places and atmospheres. Honestly, I didn't want to use the car; I preferred to use public transportation to avoid potential chaos upon my return. So, I decided to go to Vicenza, a city in the heart of Veneto.
I set out at dawn; the morning was very fresh, and it promised to be a special day. I took the train from Milan to Vicenza, and it felt like crossing a magical threshold. When I arrived in Vicenza, it was a succession of emotions. As soon as I stepped off the train, I immediately sensed the difference in the atmosphere of this small town compared to Milan. However, my main destination was the antique market, an event that takes place every month in the most important square of Vicenza, and I approached it with the enthusiasm of an aspiring art seeker.
The narrow streets of the historic center became the stage for this market, with numerous stalls filled with objects of retro charm. The sun had also made an appearance, bringing a bit of warmth. I began to browse through ancient artifacts, vintage watches, and items that probably told forgotten stories. Each piece was fascinating, and the market turned into a journey through time, taking me back to distant eras.
After wandering among the stalls, I decided to explore the city itself. Vicenza has a rich and fascinating history reflected in its monuments and places. The city tour led me through picturesque alleys and welcoming squares, where I could savor the authenticity of Vicenza. I also made a stop for coffee outdoors, but I forgot to take photos as I enjoyed a good cappuccino while admiring the vibrant life around me.
When noon arrived, I stopped at a trattoria where I enjoyed a delicious Taleggio and pear risotto—the only thing I remembered to photograph because I was too hungry. It was a chic and well-kept place, and I must say that the price was quite reasonable, especially considering the quality of the food.
I continued to stroll around Vicenza, taking some photos. At sunset, as I headed to the station for the return to Milan, I carried with me a baggage of emotions experienced in this city of timeless charm. I must say that the Sunday spent in Vicenza was an enchanting interlude, and I will undoubtedly cherish a beautiful memory of this city.
Thank you for listening to my story, and I hope you enjoyed the photos. See you soon!
