Review - Warrior
The most w|cked, dishonorable, self serving-morally broken character in the movie yet, everyone paints him the hero.
How is Gbotija even a hero?
Gbotija… The self righteous warrior who stands against the system only when it benefits his ambitions.
Gbotija…The blame shifter who never takes responsibility for his own actions and inactions.
Gbotija… The self serving hypocritical snake who bits the fingers that fed it but blames it on strife and starvation.
First he murders in cold blood, Gbogunmi, a man who treats him like a son and gave him all the powerful charms but blames Ogundiji for the death of his biological father.
Second, He invades a kingdom and slaughtered innocent villagers celebrating a festival but blames Ogundiji for inflicting terror when he could’ve simply said No.
Third, He commands the forest tree to stab and kill Agemo but blames Ogundiji after realizing, the Masked-Demon was his Lover Kiitan.
Gbotija had the power to wake up trees, to speak and control trees, He could’ve become a wealthy farmer but he wanted to be a warrior so he used his powers to commit murder and genocide.
Gbotija had the most powerful charms in the kingdoms and could change things for good but he used it to murder Gbogunmi, the one person who loved and trusted him enough to him the charms.
Gbotija was loved by the Princess, Kiitan, He was loved by the people and was loved by the most powerful sorcerer in the kingdom,
He could’ve easily challenged Ogundiji’s authority by aligning with other warriors but he wanted the glory and praises so he Murdered his God father, Murdered Agemo and committed genocide.
Gbotija had every tool and opportunity needed to change the system but he was so consumed by Greed, Hatred, Vengeance and violence that he became the very monster he claimed to be fighting.
In the end, Ogundiji was right, He only brought out the monster that was already inside Gbotija. He is not a Hero.
