With new technologies, the world has changed, entering a more activist and communicative society that has sought new ways to transmit all kinds of expressions through the web. This has led to the need to create communication channels, such as social networks, and alongside them, a monetary and production system has become involved in the economy, envisioning a future of new forms of learning and professionalism.

However, with these initiatives arises the need to positively involve the new generations, to promote spaces for knowledge and education where they can find the necessary preparation, or even open up new possibilities when reaching populations where all this development may still be novel. But how can this be achieved?

GOALS:

General:

To teach the new generations the proper use of social media systems and how to benefit from them by turning them into a mode of work.

Specific:

Promote digital inclusion: Facilitate access and participation of vulnerable populations on the Hive social network, providing learning opportunities and connection with the community.

Foster digital literacy: Train young people from vulnerable populations in the use of the Hive social network, teaching them how to create profiles, interact with other users, publish content, and make use of available tools.

Raise awareness about the benefits of Hive: Inform young people from vulnerable populations about the benefits they can gain by using the Hive social network, such as the possibility to share ideas, acquire knowledge, establish connections, and potentially generate income through content creation.

Create a supportive community: Establish a space on the Hive Blog Chain where young people from vulnerable populations can connect, share experiences, provide mutual support, and receive guidance from more experienced users.

JUSTIFICATION:

Currently, access to technology and participation in social networks have become fundamental elements for personal, educational, and work development. However, vulnerable populations may face economic, social, or educational barriers that hinder their participation in these platforms. This project aims to provide opportunities through principles like equal opportunities, which promote digital inclusion for young people, especially in vulnerable populations.

Hive is a decentralized social network based on blockchain technology that offers various advantages for users, such as the ability to share content, interact with a global community, receive economic rewards for original content creation, and enjoy greater privacy and security compared to other traditional social networks.

Given the high expectations that Hive offers, it is necessary to create an educational program that can spread awareness about the multiple benefits this social network provides and the proper and positive way to utilize them.

In an increasingly digitalized world, having digital skills has become essential to access educational, work, and personal development opportunities. However, there are still vulnerable populations that lack access to the necessary training and resources to acquire these skills.

Therefore, this project aims to bridge that gap, providing training and education on the use of Hive, promoting the development of digital skills among young people, particularly in vulnerable populations.

Consequently, Hive offers numerous opportunities, but there is limited information available about this platform and what it can offer. It is not just a productive platform economically, but also on a personal level, allowing the expression of ideas, talents, knowledge, and the establishment of meaningful connections.

By promoting digital inclusion and access to Hive among vulnerable populations, we create a positive social impact, open access to digital educational opportunities, establish productive social relationships, and enable the generation of income through healthy and creative content.

With which community will this project initially work? Why?

The chosen community to initiate this project is located in the municipality of Zona Bananera, in the department of Magdalena, Colombia. It is an ancient community where the population is primarily engaged in banana plantation and cultivation. There are many limitations and little progress observed in this area. However, with the direct presence of Sergio Guerrero, who is both a member of our team and a teacher in this region, it has been observed that this is the ideal space to work and help many young people in this community.

@chocolatoso works in an educational institution and happens to be a teacher in mathematics and technology and informatics. He has wanted to boost the performance of these young people from his area, who, without forgetting their customs, roots, and areas of economic activity, also seek other horizons and resources. The community faces numerous economic difficulties, and there is little access to these new forms of communication. Therefore, combining his knowledge and expertise in Hive, chocolatoso seeks to provide support and initiate this project with the idea of promoting the development of these young individuals.

PROJECT PHASES:

Phase 1: Analysis and Planning

Research and study of the vulnerable population: Identify the profile of the beneficiaries, their educational needs, and the technological limitations they face.

Definition of objectives: Establish clear and measurable project objectives, including the scope of the education to be provided.

Design of the action plan: Create a detailed plan that includes strategies, resources, timeline, roles, and responsibilities of the team.

Phase 2: Content and Platform Development

To start and implement this project, educational content will be created, adapted to the educational materials currently available in the community, according to the needs of the vulnerable population, and suitable for consumption in low-connectivity environments.

Subsequently, there will be a need for financial support to enable the teaching and practice required for the use and exploration of this social network. The resources will primarily focus on the use of technologies such as computers, internet networks, suitable spaces, and furniture. The community has limited economic resources, and access to these new communication forms is scarce. So, to facilitate understanding, the Hive platform will be implemented gradually, starting with basic concepts and gradually moving to more complex functionalities.

Development of the Hive platform: Configure the Hive social network to adapt it to the characteristics and requirements of the educational project. It is important to clarify that this does not involve making direct changes to the social network itself but to adapt it for educational purposes, starting from the basics to eventually cover the complexities of its use, making it easier for the beneficiaries to comprehend.

Phase 3: Implementation and Testing

Implementation of the pilot project: Launch a pilot phase to test the educational content and the Hive platform with a small group of vulnerable young people. (In this phase, the practice and learning of the young population can be evaluated to determine if there is a need to reinforce theories or techniques.)

Gathering feedback: Obtain feedback from the pilot group to make improvements and adjustments to the content and platform. It is essential to know their experiences and feelings regarding the use of this social network, the pros, and cons they encounter on the way. The project aims not only to teach but also to engage in mutual learning between teachers and young people, exploring additional strategies and potentially sharing this knowledge with the entire Hive community.

Phase 4: Scalability and Expansion

Results evaluation: Analyze the results obtained in the pilot phase to measure the impact and effectiveness of the project.

Adjustments and optimization: Make necessary adjustments based on the results and feedback received to improve the project.

Scalability and expansion: Expand the project to reach more beneficiaries, considering the incorporation of new areas of knowledge and adapting the content to the specific needs of each group.

Phase 5: Ongoing Monitoring and Evaluation

Progress monitoring: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and continuously track the impact and effectiveness of the project.

Evaluation and continuous improvement: Conduct regular evaluations to identify areas for improvement and make necessary adjustments.

Sustainability: Develop a plan to ensure the long-term sustainability of the project, considering financial aspects and institutional support.

ACTION PLAN:

STRATEGIES:

• Alliances with local institutions: Establish partnerships with educational institutions and non-profit organizations. It is essential for the project team to create a legally recognized organization to facilitate the management and collection of financial resources needed to implement the project, to generate physical spaces and logistical support for conducting in-person activities, and to distribute printed materials.

• Use of simple and accessible technology: Implement platforms and applications that require low data consumption and are accessible even in low-speed connections. Basic mobile phones can also be used for text messaging or providing educational content through interactive voice calls.

• Physical materials and workshops: Complement digital content with printed materials such as books, workbooks, or study guides, and hold in-person workshops in communities to reinforce learning.

• Training community leaders: Train local leaders or teachers to act as facilitators and promoters of the project in their communities, ensuring a wider reach and a more direct impact.

• Scholarship or donation programs: Implement scholarship or donation programs to enable beneficiaries to access electronic devices and internet connectivity.

• Offline content: Provide the option to download educational content so that beneficiaries can access it without an internet connection.

• Focus on practical skills: Design educational content to focus on practical skills applicable in daily life or the job market, allowing beneficiaries to improve their prospects and employability. The teaching plan will gradually cover a range of subjects, starting from basic computer usage, progressing to programming, and eventually mastering the use of Hive. It is essential to emphasize that this project is not solely about teaching but also expanding horizons and possibilities in various job fields.

• Collaborative learning: Encourage peer-to-peer learning, where beneficiaries can share knowledge and experiences to enrich their learning.

• Ongoing evaluation and improvement: Regularly evaluate to identify areas for improvement and adjust strategies based on the beneficiaries' needs and feedback.

RESOURCES:

• To start, a projector is needed for use during the initial phase of project preparation, considering the limited resources already available in the community.

• Donations and sponsorships: Seek support from organizations, companies, or individuals within the Hive social network who are willing to donate funds, electronic devices, educational materials, or services to support the project.

• Strategic partnerships: Collaborate with educational institutions, NGOs, local governments, and other key stakeholders in the community to access shared resources and obtain logistical support.

• Local resources: Make use of available resources in the community, such as spaces to conduct in-person activities.

• Scholarship programs: Explore the possibility of implementing scholarship programs to allow beneficiaries to access electronic devices or internet connectivity.

• Free platforms and applications: Utilize open-source tools or free platforms to create educational content and manage interaction with young people.

• Printed educational materials: Secure funding or donations for printing educational materials such as books, workbooks, or study guides.

• Creation and access to an educational space: Financial support is needed to create or build an appropriate space within the community to facilitate training and education for both the facilitators and the young beneficiaries.

• Training and development: Involve experts in education and technology to train the team and local facilitators to ensure effective project implementation.

• All other necessary resources, such as furniture, computers, notebooks, and other materials, would also require financial support.

TIMELINE:

Phase 1: Analysis and Planning (Duration: 2 months)
• Weeks 1-2: Research on the target population and their educational needs.
• Weeks 3-4: Definition of educational objectives and project strategy.
• Weeks 5-8: Designing educational content and selecting the Hive platform.

Phase 4: Sustainability and Continuity (Duration: Indefinite)
• Weeks 1 onwards: Developing a sustainability plan and seeking additional resources to ensure the project's continuity over time.

It is important to note that the timeline may vary depending on the project's complexity, resource availability, and specific conditions of the vulnerable population. Flexibility in the timeline is crucial to adapt to changes and needs that may arise throughout the project. Additionally, regular follow-up meetings are recommended to adjust the timeline based on results and feedback received during the project's implementation.
