Un paseo por Naguanagua. Relato histórico. [Esp/Eng]

Saludos, estimados Hivers de la C/Literatos. Estoy disfrutando de una visita familiar a la ciudad de Naguanagua que me encamino a hurgar en la memoria historia de esta ciudad. Es en el momento de la celebración de la fundación de esta populosa y atractiva ciudad cuando estoy en el centro de la plaza Bolívar. Tiene un ambiente agradable y sus áreas verdes están cubiertas de frondosos árboles que provocan sentarse en los bancos a respirar el aire fresco que viene de la montaña la Carialindas. Este está impregnado por los vientos del norte que provienen del mar Caribe.

Greetings, dear Hivers of the C/Literatos. I am enjoying a family visit to the city of Naguanagua and I am on my way to delve into the memory of this city's history. It is at the time of the celebration of the foundation of this populous and attractive city that I am in the centre of the Plaza Bolivar. It has a pleasant atmosphere and its green areas are covered with leafy trees that make you sit on the benches and breathe the fresh air that comes from the Carialindas mountain. It is impregnated by the northern winds that come from the Caribbean Sea.

Me acerco con mi legítima condición de ciudadano venezolano. Me intereso por la presencia del cronista oficial de la ciudad. Soy informado de que, Armando Alcántara, cronista de la ciudad de Naguanagua falleció y el cargo está vacante. Actualmente, estoy interesado por la forma como se procedió al poblamiento de esta ciudad. Pregunto a los ciudadanos y la respuesta es el silencio, parece que no hablo con ellos. Pues, me cambian la conversación, hasta me dejan parado, hablando solo. Con la palabra en la boca, esto es sospechoso.

I approach with my legitimate status as a Venezuelan citizen. I am interested in the presence of the official chronicler of the city. I am informed that Armando Alcántara, chronicler of the city of Naguanagua passed away and the position is vacant. I am currently interested in the way in which this city was populated. I ask the citizens and the answer is silence, it seems that I am not talking to them. Well, they change the conversation, they even leave me standing, talking to myself. With the word in my mouth, this is suspicious.

Después, que se realizan los actos protocolares de los eventos de la festividad de la ciudad, me retiro al apartamento donde están mis familiares. Obviamente, que reflexiono e insisto en la necesidad de verificar como fue este acontecimiento de la invasión europea al lago de Tacarigua el 24 de diciembre de 1547. Esa es la referencia que existe, el encuentro del cacique Inagoanagoa y el conquistador, capitán Don Juan de Villegas. Posteriormente, este valle de Naguanagua paso a conformarse con la figura de la Encomienda, asignada a Pedro Álvarez, alcalde de Borburata. Hasta acá, llego yo en este sinuoso terreno de la historia regional.

Subsequently, this valley of Naguanagua became part of the Encomienda, assigned to Pedro Álvarez, mayor of Borburata. This is as far as I have got in this winding terrain of regional history.

Me preocupa que no consigo ningún testimonio escrito de los eventos que ocurrieron, no existe nada que consiga si hubo enfrentamientos entre los ibéricos invasores con los habitantes originarios del valle de Tacarigua. Nada consigo. Decido con calma visitar la oficina del cronista que se encuentra la sede de la alcaldía de Naguanagua.

It worries me that I can't find any written testimony of the events that took place, there is nothing to find out if there were confrontations between the Iberian invaders and the original inhabitants of the Tacarigua valley. I get nothing. I calmly decide to visit the chronicler's office at the Naguanagua mayor's office.

Es martes, son las ocho de la mañana, es temprano, salgo a caminar desde la urbanización las quintas hasta la sede de la alcaldía de Naguanagua. A buen paso me apersono en la sede de la institución. Solicito en la recepción el permiso para visitar la oficina del cronista. Me orientan para llegar inmediatamente al espacio que está conformado por dos escritorios y sus respectivas butacas. En la pared del frente está una pieza artística del cacique Inagoanagoa.

It's Tuesday, it's eight in the morning, it's early, I go for a walk from the Las Quintas housing estate to the headquarters of the Naguanagua mayor's office. At a brisk pace I go to the headquarters of the institution. I ask at reception for permission to visit the chronicler's office. They guide me immediately to the space, which is made up of two desks and their respective armchairs. On the front wall is a piece of art by the Inagoanagoa cacique.

Salgo a las calles de Naguanagua, todavía se mantienen muchas viviendas con los techos de tejas. Voy pensando en esta información que se parece a la mayoría de las ciudades que fundaron los españoles en Venezuela y en el continente americano, y es la misma historia positivista. Es más, existen algunas ciudades como Cumana y Barranquillas donde las comunidades indígenas resistieron la invasión ibérica durante décadas. De esto existen testimonios, pero acá, en Naguanagua, no consigo los documentos que me muestren cómo fueron los episodios del poblamiento europeo en Naguanagua.

I go out into the streets of Naguanagua, where there are still many houses with tiled roofs. I am thinking about this information that resembles most of the cities founded by the Spaniards in Venezuela and the American continent, and it is the same positivist history. Moreover, there are some cities like Cumana and Barranquillas where the indigenous communities resisted the Iberian invasion for decades. There are testimonies of this, but here, in Naguanagua, I can't find the documents that show me what the episodes of European settlement in Naguanagua were like.
