Artistic nudes: Behind or in front of the lens? | WEEK #169
Nudity has been the subject of debate and great criticism for many years, especially in the religious sphere. Eve as the representation of lust and sinfulness, always naked in paintings.
The artistic nude is more accepted in society today, but it is still taboo for some people and much more taboo when it comes to a female nude.
I see it as another artistic expression, as a way to connect with your own body, to connect with nature because there is nothing more natural than a naked body. The human body is a very interesting thing and capturing its beauty, its shape, its lights and shadows is a real art. For example, I love the clavicles, I find them beautiful, as well as the muscles of the back.
Honestly, I admire women who pose naked in front of a camera. For me there is no greater demonstration of self-confidence than that. Because even though artistic nudes are not for sexual consumption, stereotypes can get in the way and cause insecurity.
It takes self-confidence to pose in front of a camera in multiple ways, and to be free and enjoy the moment without thinking about looking bad or being embarrassed to be seen doing fancy poses. Imagine the level of confidence you need to have to pose nude!
Besides, doing that requires knowing your body and knowing how to pose to achieve the intended concept of that photo shoot.
How nice to have that confidence, how nice to connect with your body and your femininity, the nudes don't necessarily have to be sensual, in fact that aspect takes a back seat. The normal thing is that the body is not sexualized in these artistic sessions. It is art and art is infinite and multifaceted. The nudes go beyond just showing the body but have behind them a whole project, the construction of a concept, many ideas like most of the photographic works.
It all depends on what you want to communicate.
Speaking from the point of view of a woman, I think there is nothing wrong with showing your nudity in an artistic way, everyone is the owner of their own body and it doesn't really affect anyone else if someone decides to undress in front of a camera.
The body is one more object worthy of study. It is needed by students to practice their drawings, their sculptures, and their captures and framing, in the case of photographers.
And to answer @galenkp's question, personally, I'd like to do it in the future, when I finally feel confident about my body and I'm not ashamed to show it in front of someone else, besides my partner and my mom 😂.
I'd be lying if I said I have the courage to do it right now because I'm just gaining confidence to take full body photos 😁.
But I would only do it if I have confidence with the photographer and I am certain that he/she is a professional at his/her job.
What I could do are self-portraits and keep them for myself to practice photography, which is an art that attracts me a lot ❤️

Would you believe that I once took pictures like this? I was in a couple with a photographer and I asked him to take them, with a film camera he had.
The bad thing is that I only saw them in negative, because just days later I discovered the worst infidelity of my life, and I took them and burned them so that there would be no trace of the photos, nor of my history with him.
Well, I'm not that surprised. I've always seen you as a bold woman ❤️
How sad that it all ended like this. But good thing you burned them. I would have done the same.
I like the idea of the portrait frames, you are a very beautiful woman, who transmits an incredible vibe through your photographs, you have a lot of talent for this Albi ❤️
Thank you very much, Ely. I follow some women who do self-portraits and I find it a beautiful and cool art. I would like to learn more about it.
You are right, for years the nudes have been controversial, I have never seen them like this, they have always seemed to me another manifestation of art and as you mention there are many parts of the human body that I consider beautiful and that in the eyes of a good artist can to be well represented, I give the example of Michelangelo's David, a sculpture that, although it is not anatomically correct, its details are beautiful and worth appreciating.
Very good point of view that you show us today friend, to pose nude in front of a camera you must first have confidence in yourself and your body, and certainly posing in this way does not define a person for doing so. It is something that is still very frowned upon by society but it is because they relate it to something they should not.
