The language of ivrit ( עברית ) Genesis 29, Post #1
Welcome to my Hebrew reading & language series.
Genesis 29:1-4
Jacob just finished having a wonderful dream last week and now, he is meeting his cousins.
He sees them far off as they are getting ready to water the sheep. He goes up to them and asks where they are from and they reply that they are from Haran.
We are coming into a new part of the story of Israel, the part where more than a decade is spent securing a wife, the right wife.

Then Jacob went on his journey and came to the land of the people of the east. As he looked, he saw a well in the field, and behold, three flocks of sheep lying beside it, for out of that well the flocks were watered. The stone on the well's mouth was large, and when all the flocks were gathered there, the shepherds would roll the stone from the mouth of the well and water the sheep, and put the stone back in its place over the mouth of the well.
Jacob said to them, "My brothers, where do you come from?" They said, "We are from Haran."

The story continues next week as Jacob meets Rachel...
