Meeting Up Husband's Maternal Relatives On Day 1 Of CNY

IT WAS THE FIRST DAY OF CNY!!! Okay, maybe I am a bit exaggerated but I really like Chinese New Year celebrations since young. Growing up in Malaysia really enhanced this as we have rather strong CNY festive atmosphere as I watched how things were compared to in other countries with Chinese residents besides China of course. Before I got married, my close friends and I plan CNY visiting schedule way before the festival hits. We love to hang out from morning till night, going from house to house.

Today we will be meeting my husband's maternal relatives whom we are closer with comparatively to his paternal relatives. I love to match outfits for my family on CNY. So this year we decided to wear blue. The children get to wear blue and white which I tried to match my husband's and my outfit with. At first I feel maybe I should do red because the elderlies love to see us wear red on Chinese New Year as it is the auspicious colour for this occasion but then I decided maybe we could try blue this year since we wore red the day before.

My husband's maternal grandma loves it! She came to tell me we look good in blue once I stepped in the door to greet her.

However, my youngest son was feeling unfamiliar with the people as he seldom sees others during our lockdown and we have not met for a long time so he just did not want to enter the house. I had to accompany and carry him outside in the yard for maybe half an hour. Finally, after I sweated and arm aching, he could enter the house, thank goodness!!!

Everyone was trying to help me but the youngest just would not allow anyone to touch him at all. After he warmed up he became very friendly with the uncles and aunties.

My eldest had gone away mingling with his cousins. They ran up and down the stairs playing their own type of games.

My youngest son decided to check out the kitchen and fridge. He is used to always opening the fridge at home 🤣

While we were gathhering at the house, my own family called me. Only my younger brother and sister made it home for family photo this year. I have yet to see them for 2 years too. So I am also looking forward to reunite with them in 2 weeks time.

It was really pleasant seeing all of them again and it felt like there was not enough time to catch up but we had to go because my youngest needs his noon nap soon.

This is me still loving my blue non-conventional cheongsam that I got for only rm28 which is perhaps USD7?? When I get something at a really affordable and lower price than the market price, I tend to adore it more hahaha!
