Cafe Hopped with an Old Friend at Mori Kohi

A friend of mine, whom I have know for almost 20 years is leaving the country for good. She is someone I know when I first came to this city. I have booked her for a meal for her farewell. Though we do not always meet, we still have a good time whenever we do.

Today we wanted to go to a pastry cafe that she wanted to try, but the jam was ridiculous and the parking was so congested so we had to change plan to just google up any cafe nearby. She found this place called Mori Kohi thus off we went.

It was just 900 metres away from the original venue. It is a bungalow renovated to house a few businesses together. One of them is Mori Kohi, which apparently means coffee in a forest.

A kind guard directed us to a parking and after we parked, we realised we know why it is named coffee in the forest. We were surrounded with A LOT of greens. The place looks very nice and welcoming, with a great service from the front table. There were quite a bit of people dining in so we were asked to just wait for about 15 minutes.

While waiting, we went around looking at the place and took some photos.

In less than 15 minutes, the staff told us there was a table for 2 so we were led inside. We needed to scan the QR code to browse the menu online and pay online as well.

Food came really fast!

My order:

A) Hot Somen

B) Takoyaki served with waffle fries. Unexpectedly they paired really well and nice!

C) I ordered a Plum Sencha for my drink. Super refreshing and looks good too!

My friend ordered these:

A) Chicken Hamburg Rice

B) Affogato

C) Vanilla latte

We both thought our food were nice and delicious. They serve in a smaller portion but good enough for us. We told ourselves to come back for their salmon chazuka which is like a rice with salmon with tea poured in. Really interesting huh.

Indoor Ambience

I really like how the place looks like. Very nicely decorated yet they did it in simplicity. There is a coffee bar right behind us and it is joined by the cakes clear fridge as well as the counter.

There is also a long communal table besides the usual table seating.

We want to be back again with another friend who is also close with us but could not join us today.

I am hoping to see my this friend again though we did have some long hours of catching up today. Felt it is not enough since I cannot just call her out anytime from now on after she moves to another country.
